United Kingdom 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE TDV8 Baltic Blue

Yesterday I did a 150 mile round motorway trip with the seat coolers working overtime.

For one reason or another ( mainly bad back ) I never got round to reverting to summer tyres this year but yesterday my winters got pretty hot,
Today it was my turn to get pretty hot.
Changing 4 Range Rover wheels should be an Olympic Sport, especially on the hottest day of the year.
Feeling better now, shower, BBQ & plenty of red wine to ease the pain. G reg 2.5VM Vogue Portofino red 1991- 1999

Just had my first ever successful warranty claim!

Nothing exciting, just a ride height sensor. I wasn't even going to try to claim for it, but then I thought I'd test the waters with the new warranty and see how amenable they were to stuff like this. I did try once or twice to claim on the Land Rover warranty that I had with my old car, but by some miraculous coincidence the things that broke were never exactly the things that were covered.

Anyway. With the new car I switched to WarrantyWise, and apart from Quentin Willson's grinning mug on the booklet I haven't found a major downside yet. I'm only 40 days into ownership and they've approved the claim with no whinging. Smile

Of course, I could have just taken it back to the dealer I bought it from and got them to sort it - but since they haven't even sent me the replacement warranty book yet (they gave me a book for some bloke's BMW...) or supplied the jack that I told them was missing, I don't have much faith in them fixing it. Or indeed, knowing what was supposed to be fixed.

So there we are. A successful warranty claim. At last! Very Happy

Took the old girl for a service today. I had sourced my own filters and oil etc and also a kit to service the gearbox. I booked her in with Rogersons near Scorton a local specialist as they had come recommended. Martin there has been very accommodating and has done a good job as far as I can tell.

Full genuine filter kit Oil, Air, Pollen and new sump plug Duckworths £81
Castrol 5-30 A5 oil £49 (Opie oils)
Metal oil filter (two piece) + 7 liters of ZF Lifeguard +mechatronics connector (LR Parts) £213
Labor and other bits and bats £261.

= £604

This was for a "Full Service" including a full vehicle diagnostic check, brake cleaning and whatever else.

Bearing in mind the main dealer wanted just shy of £500 just to change the oil and oil filter I don't think that is to bad.

The verdict? Well to be honest by the time I had collected it I was very late and really needed to get home so drove with enthusiasm and whilst the gearbox wasnt bad before it is certainly improved since the fluid change so I'm glad I had it done. It will be its first change in 124k miles. It now feels like the ZF 6HP26 did in my previous 650i.

Final thoughts? The 02 plate courtesy freelander (I shouldnt complain...) was rubbish but it had done 180k, actually had been taken in as part X, I gave my full appraisal on its return! 2005 E60 M5

Thanks to the P Poor driving of some cretin on my local Morrisons car park, I've just collected the FFR from TRAVIS AUTO's , St Helens. They have done a fantastic job of removing the crease in the rear quarter panel and bumper and the paint job is superb.

Got Hit........!!!

Caused a slight traffic jam on the M25/A13 off slip at Thurrock as some idiot drove into the back of me Big Cry

Fortunately traffic queue slow moving so damage fairly light and only seems limited to scrapes and scratches on the bumper. Looks like it will need a complete strip and repaint though.

Worse thing was spending an hour on the phone this morning to my insurers who stated it wouldn't affect my excess or NCB as it wasn't my fault......no s Censored t sherlock Rolling Eyes

Now just have to sort out repairs, although I did insist it had to go to a LR body shop as have had issues with generic accident repair centres previously.

Even though minor, guess it could be an expensive repair for the other guys insurers. Whistle 2017 4.4 SDV8 Autobiography
