Resetting adaptions?

Hi all I had a very lumpy stinky ff and it looks like it may have been a faulty fuel tank breather. I have changed it and it seems a lot better but I want to reset the adaptions now - what's the best way? I can't get Inpa to connect to the dme- is this a common issue?
