Stalling on startup

Evening all!

I've had my 2014 since October and I love it, but and here comes a but. Recently when starting, more often that not it stalls and the only way I can get it going, is to gently accelerate for a minute with my foot on the break. After about a minute, I can pull away without stalling, but for the first few miles it feels lumpy. After that is fine, until the next day.

I recently had it serviced and asked them to check, but, they couldn't find anything and there are no warning messages.

Any ideas?

Thanks
Stuart

Hi Stuart

Your profile says 2007 TDV8. Is it a 2014 as per your post ?

If 2014 is it still in warranty ? Previous

Apologies, as I forgot to update my profile.

Yes, it's a 2014 4.4 and yes it's still under warranty.

Thanks

If it does it every time you start it then clearly it should be showing something up on diagnostics. Get it into the dealers, insist they find out whats wrong and fix it under warranty before giving it back to you.

Oh, and make sure you get a decent loaner whilst they have yours. Thumbs Up

Not sure if you got it sorted, but I'm wondering if the air intake throttle valve is sticking shut?

It happened on my old MY16 SDV8.

An AA engineer came out and noticed the valve was stuck shut by removing a rubber hose.

The valve was stuck shut by, presumably, deposits from recirculated exhaust gases.

On the forums I've seen this issue a few times in relation to the SDV8 engine.

Mine had a problem starting when warm or cold and it turned out to be the air intake valve that was sticking shut. The LR Assistance bloke took it off and gave it a good clean and the problem was totally resolved. I would describe the issue as being carbon deposits causing the valve to stick.
