Sorry to be late to the party as usual.........
I fitted a set of 255/55/20 Goodyear F1 Eagle SUV 4x4 a few months back. They are much quieter than the old worn out P Zero / Conti combination that was on the truck when I bought her. They also have a much larger rolling radius which should improve economy.....!?!

However I am finding with my 4.2 S/C that it is holding in the gears longer which is not helping the consumption!
Even if I change manually I can't change up a gear until at least 1600 rpm. Please bear in mind that 2000 rpm in 6th is an indicated 70 mph. So the car rarely drives in top gear which is somewhat frustrating and defeats the object of fitting the larger tyres!!! To the point of me seriously considering changing back to 50s!!!!
Another thing to be wary of is if you use "Access Mode" on the suspension....!
If you drive around a left hand bend (i.e. pull out of a driveway) before the car has reached normal height the right rear will rub the wheel arch liner over the fuel filler pipe.

I have not noticed that. The speedo reads lower (about right in fact, measured by my Road Angel) and the steering is a bit slower than with 255/50R20s, but otherwise fine. Only Range Rovers since 1988

No idea why the car won't go into top gear with them fitted though....

My Fattie rarely made top gear when driving locally, never in speed limits etc. I was really beginning to hate the 55s.
However, fitting the 10% extra pulley to the supercharger has more than made up for the reluctance to select/stay in 6th and has overcome the lack of pull/flat spot? in the gears when driven sensibly that I was experiencing. It is now a much improved driving experience. Obviously it does not change the rolling radius/rev calculation, but has dramatically changed the amount and way the power is delivered. When not driven sensibly she now accelerates........progressively! Whistle
She does seem to wallow a bit more when cornering but I put that down to the taller side walls, she is not a sports car and probable wear in suspension bushes etc.....bearing in mind my S/C has now done over 187K miles!??!
I tend not to throw her around, but drive in a more sedate/refined manner, safe in the knowledge the horses are waiting to be released if & when required. Very Happy

Never had an issue with gears on the 255 55 20s on my td6. When did you last have the oil changed in the box?

Seems to offer a ride similar to when on 19s.

As to the speedo, it now shows the correct speed rather than just under when on stock. Tom

Will 255/55x20 Grabber AT3 fit in spare wheel well?

I’m just about to change all four barely worn 255/50 x 20 Pirellis as they are all damaged by potholes in some way or another (Splits, bulges etc. Thanks Bucks County Council!).
Am going for the Grabber AT3 in 255/55 in the hope of gaining a wee bit more cushioning together with a stronger carcass too.
Can anyone confirm yhis tyre will fit in the spare wheel well of a 2009 L322 TDV8? The standard Pirelli as fitted above goes in ok.

255x 55 x20 Pirelli Scorpion Verde just fit in, but are tight and if you have a wheel lifter fitted it sits a bit proud, preventing the floor sitting exactly flush as it should.

So without lifter floor should fit flush? I’m also thinking that if I partially deflate the tyre (I carry a little VW electric inflator),then I’ll get a bit more wiggle room!

My spare is brand new 255/55/20 without the lift and it is tight tbh and heavy, it fits flush with the cover closed and can be pretty hard to get out with my bad back the only issue. _____________________________________________________
