Just returned from a 700 mile trip with no measurable loss of coolant through the pinhole in my radiator vs the usual 8oz loss. So the lower temp does seem to stress the system less. Don't see any change in gas mileage (petrol mileage).

There is no sender unit, there is a control for the thermostat which is no longer used when a "normal" thermostat is fitted... The plug housing stays in the old modified thermostat housing but you should disconnect the plug in case it starts leaking... Thumbs Up Pete

FYI mine is throwing a check engine light with either the Electric thermostat circuit fault or the Stuck thermostat fault code being the issue. So I guess it's time to order the 10 ohm 100w resistor.

I've had the thermostat mod fitted for 10 months and have had the electric thermostat fault for that entire time but it has never thrown up the check engine light. Can I suggest you check your fault codes again as I know that the thermostat fault does not activate the check engine light... ______________________________

2 codes as above. Not sure which one gives the check engine light but it is one. Instructions from mod manufacturer has the recommendation for the 10 ohm 100 watt fix. Thought it was my Lambda fault but no. Some do it some don't.

Have just ordered the kit and eager to get the mod done.

But I am a bit confused - can you use this housing OEM NUMBER 11531720173 instead of cutting down and filing down?

No wrong housing. No quick connect for the hose. The cutting is easy. I used pliers to depress the thermostat spring and removed the guts first so things don't go flying.

This is irritating. I installed the 10 ohm 100 w resistor as per the modification thermostat instructions but still getting the 2 fault codes of which one of them is giving me a service engine soon light. 0x48c and 0x48B . Anyone have a suggestion?

OK a side question with the mod. Is there any evidence this improves the life of the valley pan gasket?

Anything that reduces engine temp has to be good for all aspects of the engine, including gaskets...

But "evidence"..... NO.... Pete

Did this thermostat swap week ago. Been great so far. Getting the air out worked really well. Got the bleeding screw Off and poured new coolant in really slowly. Pumped coolant line connecting to thermostat couple of times in the end.
After test run could only add very small amount of coolant.

Went to do this mod today and the OEM thermostat that I had fitted has a a central column that wouldn't allow the kit to fit into the housing Censored

Had to buy another with had the same central column!!!!

Has anyone else had this issue?
