gear oil

evening all, im sure its been asked many a time before, but what gear oil to use in a gm box & is an aftermarket filter ok to use??

Use Texamatic 7045E if you can find it (Dexron III), if not use Dexron VI. The GM transmission is less sensitive than the ZF ones to the fluid specification (i.e. it will fail anyway)

Again, if you can source a genuine Filtran filter, you should. Otherwise you're taking pot luck on the filter's quality.

Found them to be best for price. As it happens I have an unopened 20 litre and 1 litre surplus to requirements (Td6 gone) but the cost of shipping back to UK might be too high. John
