MY 15 changes

Hi all, I've come over from Defender 2.net to say hello!

Looking a getting out of my F80 M3 into a Range Rover - looking at an approved used 2015 model TDV6, prob in Vogue spec as I'm only really bothered about the sliding pan roof.

I'm trying to work out what updates the 2015 MY got over 2014 - there is talk of changing the TDV6 from twin to single turbo during the year, but not sure when. Does anyone know?

Also where there any tech updates for, or during 2015? I think there was auto-height access in the MY15.5 update??

On another note, when are the MY updates effective from? We have a July 2015 Disco 4, but it's a 2016 MY with adblue and the later Nav....so new MY is effective at this time or year? When are the MY .5 updates?

Thanks!

Welcome to the site Thumbs Up

I'm unable to help with any of those details (I'm pretty new here myself!) but, just in case you're unaware, the sliding roof isn't standard on the Vogue.

Good luck finding the answers to the rest Very Happy

For the MY you really need to look up from the VIN - as you've already identified, it was probably earlier than half way through the year.

All cars of that vintage should have the pano roof, but as stated, not all are opening ones, that was an option - and some prefer the fixed ones, less to go wrong and it's one big single piece without a strip across the middle, though that only really matters if you're sitting in the back......

The base model hifi would be my biggest concern with a Vogue, but we each have our own priorities - and most things are options so you just have to search for what you want.

Also, be aware that tow bars are very expensive retro-fits, so if you need one, then better to find a car that already has one.

I don't know much about the TDV6 engine though Embarassed

Thanks both - yep, looking for the optional sliding roof. Still find it odd most ppl didn't spec it on a £76k car!!

I'm trying to stay away from a tow bar - my daughter has a horse and I almost can't bear to go into the Discovery as it's used to tow a horse box and is full of straw and mud!

No tow bar means the wife can't use it for horse duties!

Auto height started from MY16 (ordered mine in 05/2015, delivered 10/2015)

MY updates are "usually" as above but it's not a rule, i.e. the next update (MY18?) is not yet official. 2016 RR ATB (Kaikoura Stone w/Brogue/Ivory-Brogue)

Thanks everyone - well, I've just put a deposit down on a 65 plate MY16 Vogue. Look forward to trying out the gesture tailgate!!

Goodbye Defender and F80 M3 - let's hope the Rangie sits nicely in between both of those extremes...

Well Hossbog what can I say!

Having 2 weeks ago come out of a Defender into a 4.4 AB (L405) I hope you're as pleased as I am!

Can't comment on what differences you'll find to the M3 but the RR is worlds away from the Defender. Completely different animal of course, but so far no real regrets..

Enjoy the new beastie!

Good luck with that. If it's anything like the ones I've had it works sometimes but very rarely when your arm are full and it's pi Censored down outside. That said they are still great cars Thumbs Up

Interesting comment re gesture tailgate...maybe it's a technique thing but I've not encountered any problems but have learnt a few things in the fortnight I've had it:

The opening is not instant

To open the tailgate, standing on the right rear corner of the car, swing foot from right to left ONCE and see if it opens.

If it doesn't just do it again, normally works

Swinging foot from left to right (I.e towards the front of the car) shuts the tailgate SO if you stand there swinging your foot in both directions, it gets confused and nothing happens.

So have to say I use it all the time, both for opening and shutting the tailgate. Hopefully this info will help someone

...I simply kick-in as shown on https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ojX-1nnfa5A

...if it's closed it opens
...if it's open it closes

the system doesn't recognize the direction front/back, just kick in. 2016 RR ATB (Kaikoura Stone w/Brogue/Ivory-Brogue)
