Newly replaced door on my neighbour's L405 which has a hole that's not on the original door on the other side...

That's odd as the car has soft closing but not bump stop or place for it in the door shell pressing on the other side.

I've just been out to check on my 2017 and both rear doors have them, but not the fronts oddly enough. However, here's a link to rubber door bump stops for Discos, Freelanders and RRSs , so maybe 2014 FFRRs didn't have them originally...so my assumption that they are for soft door closing is not possibly correct.
Maybe JLR originally thought that FFRR rear passengers wouldn't be so uncouth as to slam the rear doors, and the kids would be better brought up... Laughing
