handbrake Q

the handbrake is inboard and mine rubbish , is it likely to be the usual stretched cable or worn out rear shoes , car has had recent discs and pads all round so I suspect they forgot to adjust the rear shoes when rebuilding them

Probably the automatic adjusters, they let them off to fit the disc then pulling the handbrake should wind them in but I doubt yours will be, they seize up.... Could also be a rusty backplate, the shoes fix to the backplate and these rust out and allow the shoes to move instead of pressing inside the disc....

Cables are usually OK so get the rear discs off and have a look... Thumbs Up Pete

I reckon that's whats happened pal , the running gear is in really good condition , no real corrosion of any sort , I had the ruddy wheels off earlier to do the height sensors ! doh ! have these got the hole to adjust them threw ??

I can't remember, should say in RAVE which you can download from the WIKI...

The shoes don't last long and the springs have a habit of weakening as well, I changed the entire lot on my last fatty and the handbrake was still rubbish, I never used it anyway, stick it in Park and it's not going anywhere...!!! Thumbs Up Pete
