Door lock paddle barrel.

Trying to replace driver's door lock actuator. RAVE says disconnect door lock paddle barrel. It fails to say how to do it though. Anyone have a clue? The pic makes it look like it pulls out but it is hard to see or how it is connected.

Hi,

When you open the door you should be able to see a grommet on the door edge that is in line with the exterior door handle.

Take out the grommet and inside is a torx screw/bolt, unscrew it and the door lock / barrel can be pulled out. Take care on replacement as the ‘blades’ on the barrel rod need to be lined up with the actuator to enable the door to be unlocked using the key.

If you mean the lock barrel itself, which has a sort of star shaped paddle on the end of a shaft that locates into the main lock unit, then it's just a case of removing a small screw thats located under a rubber grommet on the side of the door, about level with the door handle, then the lock barrel can simply be withdrawn.

Nope. RAVE does not provide a picture of this. Just says do it like it is in our DNA. Maybe I can take some today.

Oh hell yes now I get it. It's part of the key lock. So undoing the one torx and backing out the key lock from the outside removes the barrel paddle from the actuator. Now why could RAVE say that?

Yay new door actuator in. Boo it looks like I need to go deeper. I pull the handle and nothing engages. I thought the new actuator was going to fix this too but I see in the video the cable end tends to break off.
