Gumball
deffo the battery, the FBH has a glow plug in it that draws quite a few amps, if the battery is too low, or the unit itself does not see enough volts it will not get the glow plug up to temperature, and therefore the FBH does not ignite! If this happens 3 times the unit usually locks out and needs to be reset!

Try a battery disconnect and re connect, or try to pull the FBH fuse for 30 seconds and re insert it! that should clear it! then see if it fires!
Its a very clever device when it works! I have one in my summerhouse feeding 2 radiators, it heats a 3 m x 5 m summer house up to 20 c in the middle of winter in about 20 - 25 mins, when it works lol

What fuse number for the FBH on a 2012?

Fuse 59 shows spare in my hand book and the fuse holder has no fuse.

Edit:-

I found this http://topix.landrover.jlrext.com/topix/se...c086/en_GB

which, right at the bottom, says.....

Fuse Box (lower)
Fuse 16
20amps
Yellow
Fuel fired booster heater.

So all I have to do now is find the lower fuse box, I'm assuming in the rear nearside somewhere?

Not sure what fuse it is! The webasto manual mentions a 20a fuse so it could be that one? Only way to tell for sure would be pull it out, and try the manual heat/fob and if there is nothing at all it must be the one! 2006 RR sport HSE

GiantLM - that seems to be a 405 manual...

I was hunting for my fuse, I think it's in the engine bay fusebox:

Problem is I don't know which one. Might be 3 or 19.

Also, I can watch around 25-30 of TV until the Low Battery warning comes up. Not running heater.

Worth noting pulling the fuse is not guaranteed to reset the FBH fault if its locked out. Better to get a cheaper code reader/clearer

Cheers for that, Zeppfish. Very logical.

Ah. Thought I'd finally cracked it there, Greg.

As for which fuse, it's frustrating there is no fuse listing for the under-bonnet holders. Working on the premise that things like heated screens have three upwards arrows (indicating heat?) and knowing the FBH has a 20A fuse, I wonder if F13 might be the one....

Kevin

My situation is slightly different, Gary, in that the dealer forced started the FBH the other day but it won't fire up despite the flashing Auto light on dash and with the heating controls set correctly. As the device works, I'm suspecting some sort of communication or signal error.....will try the IID again but I'm on the verge of just giving it to the garage and telling them to fix it seeing as it's under warranty.

Mine's been sporadic;

Worked beautifully today off the main head unit screen.
(Other days it won't fire from the screen)

And I think it's been running of the 8:15am timer daily... (The car's warm) but haven't "caught" it running. Unless unlocking the car shuts it off? Dunno.

The remote doesn't seem to do anything. Although I get flashing lights.

More testing needed I guess.

Wasn't great that I was bragging this week to a colleague about the pre-heater that their Audi didn't have. Then we got in.. Can you guess? Stone cold. Embarassed Should've kept shtum I guess.

Well following a brand new battery mine now does this -

I press the fob to turn on the fbh , i here the burner ignite and a ticking every second or so from the rear.
It runs and makes like a jet engine sound for about 3-4 mins but then shuts down and the ticking stops.

So the burner it working its like something is stopping the fans inside the car from blowing..

Weird if you ask me.

Its a 2011 tdv8 4.4.

Following a bit of doubt a couple of posts up ^^ as to which symbol related to the FBH fuse, the fuse is marked 13E 20A on this wiring diagram:

Thanks to GraemeS for posting this diagram on another thread.

The FBH is the same as the Rover 75,

If it stops after 2-4 minutes then the FBH glow plug resistance is too high (maybe gone open circuit) so the system shuts itself down to protect itself.

Or simply the battery charge is low and the system shuts itself down

If you are often watching TV or listening to the radio in the car, and then don’t give the car the chance to recharge the battery to about 80%, then the system shuts itself down.

Why not try this. Put the battery on a charger. Get in the car....try to run the FBH with a charger attached. This will tell you whether the battery is the problem or the unit.
