Thread resurrection alert!

Well my driver's side (DS) door is playing up today. unlocked and opened fine. When I tried to close the door it wouldn't close - Seemed like the latch was stuck in the out position.

Eventually the door closed OK, but would not open again. The handle would pull OK from the outside, but didn't open the door latch. I had to get in the back and open the DS door from the inside.

Currently closed and locked OK, but don't want to mess with it until the daylight tomorrow.

It is currently at or below freezing here. So frozen lock or cable broken - which do you think?

Re: Bloody Nubbin seized in situ!

[quote="Dolphinboy"]great thread this! Had my external door cable go the other day so searched and found this thread: followed it to a tee and got everything off in 35 mins only to find when trying to put the new cable end into the slot that it won't go! so had to take the door locks off (great powerful Uk youtube vid BTW!) to see why not, only to find the old broken end of the wire is firmly and irrevocably seized in the hole! Have tried drilling it out to no avail.

My cable gave up the ghost a few week ago, and I had the same problem, the nipple was seized in the slot. I gave it a good soaking in WD, then took a very fine screwdriver and kept tapping it into the bottom of the nipple. Eventually I managed to free it enough to get the blade right underneath, a little more jiggling and swearing at it and it came out.

Tell you what, these cables have shot up in price: 2010 = £7 - £8 each.
Today the cheapest I could find are £23 and upwards.
How's that for inflation!?

I was thinking exactly the same thing. Absolute ripoff for a cable. Explain to me how you can buy this cable in the US for 6 or 7 dollars and we in Ireland and the UK get charged 30-40 euro?

Looks like these cables have kept on going up!

Genuine Land Rover cable is now £53.77! Shocked

They’ve gone up nearly 10x in price since this thread started!
