France 2004 Range Rover Vogue Td6 Stornoway Grey

Hi All,

First as with everyone, thanks for the info here, very very helpful!

I am most of the way through fitting a Sony unit with Android Auto and separate Amp for the factory subs. I also hope to get the original mic working for hands free. I have some photos and some more info on choices made which I will post when done but before then, if anyone can help with the following two questions it would be mightily appreciated!

1) Parking Sensor Live - I have installed a reversing cam but instead of picking up a reverse signal from the lights / gear selector - which would only be on when actually in reverse - I would like to pick up a feed from the parking sensors. These remain 'active' for a short period of time whilst manoeuvring, be that reversing or in drive, and thus would keep the reversing cam on during this same time. I think this will be much neater as a solution and more practical as well. As the LED on the parking sensors stays lit during this time, there must be a live wire there somewhere... but there are so many cables in that multiblock testing one by one would be hard and could cause some damage... so if anyone knows the magic colour that would be great?

2) Hand / Parking Brake Switch - As it is an Android Auto system, certain functions are restricted during drive. I would like to try this - I can always earth out the line at a later date if it annoys me... so therefore I need to find the switch feed for when the parking brake is on. Again any ideas of where I can find this without ripping the centre console to bits to expose the lever itself?

Car is MY2004 btw. Full Vogue spec.

Thanks guys... pics, update and report on the Sony setup to follow, just gotta get this sorted to finish it first!

Thanks,

Chris

Pretty sure the mic will be the wrong impedance, I tried it and it was terrible on mine, I used a Parrot double mic self cancelling set up, worked well...

The PDC control box is in the right rear cubby hole behind the fuse box, it would be easier to get a feed from there, the dash light is probably can bus controlled...

The handbrake control really is a waste of time and too much effort for no gain, most of the systems are set to work UNLESS the wire is earthed so work anyway... Depending on the Android you are using there is also a setting to ignore it anyway, can't see the point of wiring something up that prevents you from doing something...!!

Good luck.... Pete

Hi Pete,

My car has had an old school phone kit in before and the mic wiring modified a bit... so not sure what they might mean. I will experience with caution!

You're probably right about the brake... I just like things to be done properly.

For the parking sensors... when you say right rear cubby... can you elaborate>

Thanks,

Chris

Here you go, it's here, item 3...

Wiring diagram

Connector details, looks like you need pinout 7 on this connector, run it through a relay to power the rear camera... Thumbs Up

If you need more info, download Rave from the WIKI (Link top right of page under fullfatrr.com)

Good Luck...

Thanks for that... managed to find a switched feed on the main connector block of the PDC controller... might be 5v as opposed to 12v but the head unit is happy with it. Now whenever the parking sensors are on - even if they are switched on manually with the car in park or neutral, the camera is activated. Obviously in normal reversing action it works as well.

I have a few pics of the wiring so I will post when I get the chance.

I also somewhat inadvertently found that the parking brake switch is very easily access under the cup . ash tray holder which easily pops out. I was actually routing a USB cable back to the arm rest but spotted that there. I have permanently switched the cable for now but left it accessible there just in case I ever feel the need for it to be correctly linked to the hand brake.

Thanks for the help, hope this info continues to build the resource for others!

@ Fox11

You have the later touch screen version with MOST. You can't do the Android conversion with this one. Crying or Very sad .

fitting an Android

Great post.

With this replacement, we loose the information on the dash and the subwoofer right?
Cheers

Antonio

You lose the information on the dash but you can wire in the subwoofer if you want to.... Pete

Yes, sorry about no pics, I had over 1,500 on photobucket, I even had to pay them to host before their weird decision as so many were looking at my posts I ran out of bandwidth, it was costing me a tenner a month anyway, then they want to charge a small fortune and as soon as they did this I tried to download all my photos from them and although they said I could it never worked, I tried for over a week to do it and it wouldn't let me...

I just haven't got the time to reload all of the photos some other way, if you want a specific photo then please PM me and I will try to find it in my archive but don't hold your breath as they are unsorted photos and over 3,000 and I haven't saved them all as I presumed they were there forever on PhotoBucket (replace the B with an F) to55ers.... Pete

So are all the pics uploaded here actually going somewhere else and subject to that other site's terms? What about YouTube video links? Are they safe from hijacking?
