My 2010 6hp26 improvements?

LR advertised that the 2010 Ffrr models had an improved 6 speed gearbox! Does anyone know what mods were done or was the 6hp32 fitted?

Did they have two different spec versions of the 6 speed in the same production year? ______________________________

ZF upgraded the three versions of their 6HP transmission to ‘2nd generation’ models. All the model numbers increased by two i.e. the 19 went to 21, 26 to 28 & 32 to 34.

The diesel got the new 8-speed transmission when the 4.4 TDV8 engine superseded the 3.6

Thanks Phil.
So the 2010 3.6 tdv8 got the 6hp26 or 28, like the 2010 5.0 v8?

I’m interested as my 08 tdv8 26 suffered the output spline rusting and wear, and trans and transfer case were replaced with a unit from a 2010 3.6.

I had to swap in the mechatronic from my old trans. ______________________________

I suspect you’re right J, and JLR has two different spec 6hp2#’s for the two different motors. ______________________________

I believe the mechanical parts are interchangeable, but the electronics are not.

Pre/Post 2010MY have different CAN networks, and are not compatible, hence the need to swap the mechatronic unit over Thumbs Up

Yes, the plan is to eventually swap over the valve body but keep the old TCM. Apparently the TCM can be detached and swapped over from the valve body. ______________________________
