Snow chains will they fit??

I have 255/55-19 and have seen these advertised:-

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Snow-Chain-TXR9-...0005.m2219

They say they are good for 275/45-19, will they fit mine.....???

Now the maths

Mine:
255*55% = 140.25
255 + (140.25*2)= 535.50 on top of the 19 inch rims

Chains are good up to:
275*45% = 123.75
275 + (123.75*2) = 522.5 on top of the 19 inchrims

SO in theory they would be too small by 13 mm or 6.5mm on each side??

There may well be more sizes they fit - the ones I used on my 255/50/20’s were also listed as 31/10.50/15 which those seem to be also, so should fit a standard FFRR wheel and tyre.

Remember the width matters as well as the height - so yours being narrower brings the calculation closer.

Maybe try the calculation on some of the other tyre sizes listed also ?

Thank you Alistair - it is the only 19 inch size listed so the numbers def won't stack on the others...

Good spot Stan and a good price still Thumbs Up - I'm guessing you plugged 255/55/19 into search in eBay, I didn't think of that Rolling with laughter

Overall size is the same - smaller wheel but taller tyre - so you need the same size chains Thumbs Up

The sizing isn’t that precise, you basically tighten them onto the tyre - so a given set of chains works across a variety of different tyre sizes.

they are the same type as mine iirc, but I have set 450 I think which fit the 255/55 19” and 255/50 20”. I will have a look.

Had a look and the label has worn off.

Looking at the listing though it says they fit a 255/60 18 which is the 18” FF size and should have the same rolling radiusπŸ‘πŸ» There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Thank you pal - I didn't go for them in the end, I wanted to go for Stan's find but didn't order then it started snowing and they doubled in price - so went for these instead
