I have noticed that my key fob will not open or lock the car. I can use it to start the car and the car will unlock and lock using the "keyless go" functions of the door handles. Anything I can do to get it going or is it a trip to the dealer?

Background: I'd noticed it happening a couple of times. I'd spotted the "Smart Key Battery Warning" as I started the car, so I changed the battery two days ago - so fresh battery (though I guess the new one could be too).

Sounds like it might be a problem with the receiver in the car, given that the other functions seem to work.

Yes, I could use the spare key. But I do want to get this one going too.

If the spare key works - then the problem is with the key

If the spare key behaves the same, then the problem is with the car.

only suggesting a common sense approach...

if the spare key opens/closes/starts the car then you know its a problem with the original key and not the car..

if you have the same problem with the spare key then its the car.. ... - .- -.

It was the new battery. Still getting "smart key battery warning". Replaced battery and all is now working.

Their is a key fob reset after changing the battery on a L322.
Double click something but can’t remember what... some clever person will be along soon and it probably equally applies to L405’s. G reg 2.5VM Vogue Portofino red 1991- 1999
