FFRR specialist in Cheshire

Hi All

I've just taken the plunge and bought an '07 TDV8 Vogue SE. I'm looking for an Indy in Cheshire and these three come up:

- Taylors 4x4 in Tattenhall
- JD Automotive in Northwich
- Land Ranger Services in Middlewich.

Does anyone have experience of these, or know of others I should try? Any insight appreciated! There's no evidence of a gearbox oil change and the history is mostly main dealer, so I want to talk to someone about how/when to flush and how much.

I use Land Ranger in Stockport and they are top drawer and very well-regarded. Blokes I know in the motor trade use them too. I can't see why the one in Middlewich would be any different. I think they have three or four branches in total but I have only ever used Stockport.

They are better than the main dealer in terms of knowledge and honesty, but sans coffee machines, sanitised waiting areas, foxy looking receptionists and huge bills that look more like part numbers. 2017 4.4 SDV8 Autobiography in black

I used JD Automotive for a couple of years before I sold my RR (servicing, discs/pads, replacing an air strut)

Found them to be excellent. Place is owned by a chap called Steve who spent many years working for Land Rover.
Very accommodating (the air strut was a rush job) and always had a courtesy car I could use to get to work - sometimes his van, other times his petrol Disco.

If I still had a FF, I would still be using them! 2007 Zermatt Silver TDV8 Vogue SE - now sold but was a great car!

Thanks both, sounds like there are some good options. I'll speak to JD and Land Ranger and see which I like the sound of best!

Cheers

I've used JD for the last 4 years. He (Dave Salmon) isn't a fan of forums but seems to be reliable. Previous cars:
S-Max 2007-2013 (only diesel I've had, good car but expensive when diesely bits go wrong, so what's the point?)
Galaxy 2001-2007
Mondeo Estate 1997-2001
Sierra Estate 1993-1997
Uno Turbo 1987 -1993
Fiesta 1984 - 1987
Fiat 127 1982 - 1984

Thanks appj62 - I don't know what I was thinking, Dave Salmon is the chap at JD Automotive, not Steve (whoever he is!) 2007 Zermatt Silver TDV8 Vogue SE - now sold but was a great car!

I highly recommend land ranger services at Stockport.I had an egr fault and they both needed replacing so I went to lr services in Stockport and they booked me in within 2 weeks and quoted me a price of approx. £750 all in so took it there and I was most happy when my final bill came to £674 inc vat and fully fitted new egr valves. No dolly birds or wash and vac etc. just proper workmanship and they ring you when the jobs done..I'd never go to main agents in my opinion they are all crooks. 2009 Vogue SE Zermatt silver

My car is sat in Land Ranger as we speak. Its had the electric steps fitted today but also now has the dash out to fix a heater flap issue.

I have total confidence in those chaps.

I am hopeful I'll get it back in the AM and normal service will be resumed. I'll then be officially the coolest bloke for miles around with my new electric steps. Mr. Green 2017 4.4 SDV8 Autobiography in black

Evenings Stuart, did you have the deployable steps fitted and if so areyou happy with them? I've been toying with the idea of buying some myself and wondered if the fitting went well? 2009 Vogue SE Zermatt silver

Wouldn't mind knowing what they charge you to fix the flaps as mine are intermittent , some clicking from behind the dash which I assume is a cog sticking because of a stuck flap then I assume it gets warm which frees it up and whoosh I can see again
