Unusual Sat Nav Issue (07MY)

Hi,

I'm having a strange issue with my satnav and was wondering if anyone else has had a similar issue

Basically its freezing but its predictable WHEN its gonna happen - if the car has not been started for a few hours it works fine (albeit it starts up and all the settings have been reset - destination entry popup and map at mid level zoom)

If however I turn the car off for more than 5 mins but less than a few hours the nav is frozen and will not work again until the car is switched off for a few hours.

By "frozen" I mean :-

It affects ONLY the navigation page, all other aspects of the touch screen work fine, you can open the nav page with the nav hardbutton but not switch to the Onroad / Offroad nav screen

Voice recognition also stops working

All touchscreen input on the map screen only do nothing - cannot open menu or move map, touchscreen response is fine on all other pages (radio etc)

Disk will not eject when "Frozen" but will eject fine when working

Have tried :-

Cleaning disk (not tried original yet but that is my next step)

Turning off TMC updates (apparently this could cause unit to lock up on BMW unit)

Resetting all user preferences

Removed unit and inspected - spotless inside

Resetting all faults with IID Tool although it shows no faults.

It seems to me like there is a battery that is dying inside but cant see anything

Has anyone here had a similar issue that they have had resolved? .... I'm thinking the unit is on its way out and needs replacing although I think I recall reading someone on ebay fixes them

Any help greatly received

Regards

Hi mate I have got the exact same issue with mine. What year sat nav disc do you have mine are 2012 I am going to upgrade them to 2015 see if that cures the problem but I have tried everything that you have tried also. This has only come about after a recent battery swap though so I'm wondering if the power down has effected the nav unit. Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 SDV8 SVO Stying Pack

Think my disk is 2011/12, didnt know there was a 2015 available

Put the original disk in earlier today 2007 ish and it had a mental flip out - worked fine at first but on the first short restart period the entire screen went scrambled on every page, presumably it didn't like the older firmware on the original disk

P.S is yours the Denso Nav unit or the BMW one?

I have the same problem + another

Yes

1) The headhunit works fine..... Nav touchscreen button AGREE cannot be pressed. All else works

2) I have sat radio - sometimes the head unit starts and only shows RADIO sometimes SAT-RADIO. Still works (switching between the two) regardless what it says but there seems to be a programming glitch somewhere.

By the way NAV works when I start car, go to Nav and press agree and get nav. Then if I turn off car, press NAV and then RADIO (i.e. don't press agree) - it causes a problem.

Very very strange as I don't think its disc related.. (given #2 above).

I do remember the system doing some sort of a update (the Headunit) - perhaps it reverted to original and is having problems?

Will run a check with IID - but Im not getting any specific errors. 2008 HSE B. Grey
