Rear sub-frame corrosion

Hi. Long time lurker, first time poster so thanks for all your help so far.

I have a 2003 TD6 and it's just failed it's MOT. One of the "arms" of the rear subframe has completely rusted through. This is the photo I took when it was on the ramp so I know the garage isn't pulling a fast one

So, what sort of bill am I looking at and does anyone have any recommendations on where to go to get the work done? I'm based in the Luton area.

I have no intention of selling it, I figure that whatever I invest now will be less than buying a replacement. That and I love my FFRR

Langley 4x4 in Kings Langley were highly recommended to me.

My FFRR is in with them for the first time this week.

Will add my recommendation when it comes back Smile What do I put here then?

You can find replacement rear subframes on eBay (usually from later models), just a fun job swapping them over! .
Experience is the only genuine knowledge, but as time passes, I have forgotten more than I can remember Wink

I'm handy with the spanners so I did have a look on ebay but I expect the weight would be too much to handle on the drive. It could be an option if ok with the garage though.

Do you know if all versions of the L322 used the same sub frame or did it change over the years?

i Just had exactly the same as this on a 2003 TD6, i bought a 2012 subframe that was like new, including all as new bushes for £240 delivered on a pallet.
The labour at my local garage was £475, i had to have 1 tie bar, 2 new brake pipes and 2 new height sensors
All in it came out around £840 ish....

Might i respectfully suggest before you look at replacing the rear subframe, check the covered areas of the shell first... Remove the sill covers etc and check the tinwork has not killed the car before you start spending (maybe in vein) sir... Thumbs Up
