Poor MPG

Hi All p322 owners and others thanks to all that put ideas forward re my low MPG (14) I replaced the EGR Valve (LR005791)that was caked up with gunge (40k miles).
Took the motor out yesterday and mpg gone up to 22 but only a short run and some of that engaged in towing a car out of a field a brand new BMW series 5 some days old.
Any ideals what MPG I should expect?.
What MPG is the usual for this car ??
My Car is a 2006 Range Rover Auto p322 with 40k on the clock

I was getting 21-23mpg from the 3.0 TD6, 23-25mpg in the 3.6 TDV8 and fuel is just not a problem now I have a 4.4 TDV8 which seems to be doing 24-28mpg. I reset the average on a run the other day and it was getting 40mpg on the motorway. Whistle 2010 FF 4.4 TDV8 Vogue - Gone

I too get around 22-25mpg depending on what I'm doing. I try not to use it for round trips less than around 30miles.

Hi I note your comment regarding MPG, I do not have the luxury of alternative transport as I have a disabled wife that relies on my transport, yes you could say buy yourself a different car, but the RR is perfect for towing our van and its now twelve years old with only forty one thousand miles on the clock, so why change it !.
What I would like is for some one to explain how the new EGR valve is controled ?

Thanks for your reply

I get a fraction under 34 MPH out of my 3.6 TDV8 on motorway. I just set the Cruise Control at 60 and relax. I don't take to much notice of town MPG however, everything is bad in town.

Sandyt, what mpg do you get out of yours realistically?

We get around 17mpg out of our TD6 knocking about town and I've seen 30+ on a long run.

I have just done 3k miles of mixed driving and it is showing 17.1 mpg which for a 4.2 supercharged is ok I also drive quite quickly
