England 2010 Range Rover Autobiography 5.0 SC V8 Barolo Black
Gear box fault P181C

Hello chaps,

I'm proud owner of 5.0 Autobiography Supercharged vogue 2010 model and love and enjoy every moment of driving the vehicle. Owned the range for just under 3 years now with out any trouble at all. Very Happy

Last weekend i selected netural whilst parked and selected Low range on the gear box. I do this once every month as i have never taken the car off road so that everything gets selected and to avoid anything seizing up, as there is sooo many electrics on the car. ( as lovely as they are)

At this point a message showed stating Special programs off, Gear box fault, Low suspension selected for safe driving. And the low range selection button was constantly flashing. Shocked I heard no noises at all like clunking or banging.

The car selected low ride height and i selected parked, Put the brake on and turned off the engine. Left it a few minutes and started the car, Still special programs off showed with Gear box fault, I was able to raise ride height to normal but when selected D for drive or R for reverse i was unable to move in either direction as if the gears was not selected. Rolling Eyes

Now puzzled i selected park again and turned off the engine. On restarting the car same warnings showed but i was able to select drive and all other gears, along with all sports gears. Moved slowly off and all was fine. Driving carefully and able to select all gears automatically and manually and sport gears.

Now on start up have message displayed special programs off with gear box fault. Had a garage look into the car errors and showed the following : P181C = Clutch actuator switching solenoid valve malfunction.

At no point did i hear any worrying noises and all normal driving gears are working normally and car drives as if there was no warnings showing. Has any one any advice or has the above been experienced by any one else.??

Does anyone have any suggestions of specialists in West London or western stretch of M25.

Just thought i'd ask you guys 1st. Smile

Replies appreciated

Can’t help with anything except a recommendation for Langley 4x4 in Kings Langley.

Hope whatever the issue is gets sorted. What do I put here then?

I would recommend Ross at RR London in Battersea (not to be confused with Land Rover battersea just down the road). I used to take my 2010 there when I lived in London. Know their stuff and sensibly priced.
