2011 Parking Sensors

I've found a lot of advice about pre 2011 parking sensor help but 2011 appears to be a different ballpark.
(Honest I've spent ages watching videos and reading advice that simply doesn't match my model)

I don't know where the "controller pack" is to try swopping the front set connector with the back set connecter and see if that helps. I'm looking at removing both bumpers to check for wire breaks and water ingress but before I do is there another solution?

Rear sensors became intermittent a few weeks ago.
Wet/icy days- nothing.
Dry days- a new long beep was heard inside the cab and sometimes reverse and front would work ok.
Has given up the ghost completely now regardless of weather. Button on centre console does nothing, no "clicks" or "vibrations" are coming from any sensor on the exterior of the vehicle. Swopped the block fuse in the boot with the fan motor fuse and they are both fine.
Just went round all sensors with a dry cloth and pushed on sensors, a considerable amount of water was soaked up at the front so its certainly possible water ingress has damaged two of the front sensors at least.

I could try hitting the sensors with a hairdryer if its not too late.
I could try taking the bumpers off to remove and thoroughly dry each sensor if its not too late.
Or is it likely the wet sensors have "fried" the controller hence everything is dead as a dodo?

Anyone?

Well after consulting the rave manual I found the parking module I was looking for is actually not in the drivers side wheel arch hidden behind the fuse box like older models but in fact it's in the passengers side wheel arch. Its also a lot easier to access.

I was thinking of swopping the front and back cable plugs to test which system wasn't working but as pointed out elsewhere they are moulded to fit only those sockets. I noticed "some one" has been here before, they've broken a clip on one of the plugs and if I'm reading the date correctly 20 11 14 on the module, replaced it with a newer version.

Some slight rusting leads me to believe there's been an issue previously. I also noticed one of the middle plug pin holes shows corrosion but the corresponding pin is clean.

I'm assuming Left to Right the plugs work- front or rear (black plug 12 pins), front or rear (yellow plug 12 pins), power (yellow plug 16 pins). Trying to find out what's front and rear I've ran the car with the first plug out and then the second plug out but the dash button is dead and nothing is happening. I'm assuming as in the manual the system diagnoses itself and disabled everything if there is the slightest fault e.g a waterlogged front sensor just crashes the whole system.

The plug for the rear sensors has wires in pins 3 and 4 whereas the plug for the front doesn't.

Autoparts are often stamped year and week so suspect the date code is 2011, week 14.Some of the Range Rover parts have a full date code on them - look for a sticker inside one of the trim pieces like the rear panel hatches and so if those dates are roughly the same then you'll know if the module is original Current Fleet:-

Thank you for the replies folks. Sadly no I have no access to an IID tool which of course would pinpoint it straightaway I guess.
Due to the recent weather I haven't had a chance to remove and clean the sensors to see if they are the culprit but needless to say everything has been solidly dead since my last post. Until....

Well as luck would have it we had a nice warm day yesterday and perhaps by coincidence this afternoon all of a sudden when I plonked it into reverse there was a surprising beep and the dash switch lit up. No forward activity but reverse sensors all kicked in beautifully and I could have punched the sky. I did several journeys and they kept working and frustratingly, as the rain is coming down, they are all dead again....

And now I have just been to the shops in the rain all front and back are working again. How frustrating.
At least I know all the components work, sensors, control box, dash button. Has to be a wiring issue or some intermittent damp issue.

Just to box this off if it will help anyone.

Well after having a diagnostic done it was discovered to be the control module. The garage took one from a freelander and it worked no problem. They suggested £130 for a brand new dealer replacement. There are several available a lot cheaper online and as I'm likely to change the vehicle in September it seems the best option. I'm just not sure whether another freelander one for example might have some different "settings" etc.

A neighbour opened up my unit and found there had been some water ingress, the corrosion was clear and stupidly I'd missed that.

Just to close this off.

By chance an exact match came up on a popular auction site last weekend so I took a gamble.
Plugged in and straight away all was good. No dealer reset required.

£50 from a vehicle breakers, described as fully tested and they were true to their word.

Interestingly...

The replacement came from an RRS of similar age where normally the last two letters in the sequence would be slightly different

Mine - Ah42 15k866 BG (Checked with JLR if its the correct model that was fitted and they said yes)
RRS normally Ah42 15k866 BE but my new BG designation was taken from an RRS so they must be interchangeable.
Auction sites average price £50

The garage that did my diagnostic took one from a Freelander of similar age 6992 15k866 AH
Auction sites average £20 - £30

Discovery models described as also suitable for RRS are CH22 15k866 BA
Auction sites average £50-£60

The centre number 15k866 is the same throughout and based on my experience shows they all appear to be interchangeable.
When you are looking down the barrel of a JLR £194 plus VAT quote and see that a £30 freelander version will work it certainly makes you think..
