Tow hitch mounted motorcycle carrier - any recommendations?

Morning chaps

I’m looking for a rear motorcycle carrier for my SC - it has the 2’’ rear hitch option towbar which is perfect , but I’m struggling to find a UK supplier of a rack that uses this type of tow bar or has a load capacity of up to 200kg
I can find exactly what I need in the US , eg https://www.mototote.com - but thought I’d check if anyone here has any experience
If not I’ll approach one of the UK suppliers and see if they can make one , or if all else fails order one from across the pond 4.4 AdBlu Tractor

Would you not be limited to the max tow bar hitch load of 150kg in any case? Just a thought. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Thanks Stan , Watling are on the list to contact along with Dave Cooper if I can’t find one off the shelf

Northern Monkey - I’ve read the max tongue weight is 550lbs , and assumed I’ll be fine with 200kg. Have I got it wrong?
If so not really a problem as most of my bikes are under 150kg , but it would be good if I could carry the bigger ones too 4.4 AdBlu Tractor

The max tow ball weight is 150kg in the UK, but for some bizarre reason it’s higher in other countries, 350kg I think in Australia for example. Have a read of the towing weights in the manual. There something about increasing this in certain situations. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

The general nose weight seems to be 150kg, but when you read the label on my towbar it says it's dynamic load rating is along the lines of 17000kg (or is it kN ? Can't quite remember) ... So I'd guess there is a bit more scope for more than 150kg. V8 or else ...

After a little more research , an additional 100kg on the tongue weight is fine as long as it is counted in the MGW . So 250kg or 550lbs is permitted ( including the weight of the carrier)

Thanks Clive, I’d be fine lifting the dirt bike or supermoto into the Dave Cooper style rack , but looking for a ramped design for the bigger bikes and scooter as they’re harder to manhandle
Now I just need to find a rack that fits the hitch receiver - I really like the moto tote design , but would like to find a UK mmanufacturer if possible

Now you've had this for a while, how are you finding it? I'm thinking of something similar for my trail bike, but my main concern is that I think the 2 inch hitch is tucked further under the vehicle than normal on US cars, so the bike may end up a bit close to the rear of the RR.

The alternative is the Watling or Dave Cooper racks, which bolt to the farmer's hitch between the ball and the hitch, so stand proud a little more. On both of these I'm looking at the ramp variant, rather than the ones with rectangles that the wheels drop into to make loading easier. Of course, they also weigh more so start to get close to the 150kg limit.

It’s a great bit of kit and a permanent fixture of late .
You’re correct it’s a little close on the FF but nothing touches or is a problem . The tailgate can’t be opened with a bike on the rack , and I bought a length of box section with a view to added a little extra length but haven’t got round to it
I find it easy to rest the right bar on the rear screen temporarily whilst I strap it down .. easy peasy 4.4 AdBlu Tractor

OK, thanks - it's encouraging that you haven't decided it was a bad idea. The length thing only occurred to me because I picked up a Thule bicycle rack (very cheap on eBay as no-one wants 2 inch hitch stuff here), but I had to modify that to fit. Luckily it had a 1 1/4 to 2 inch sleeve, so I could slide that out a bit and drill a new hole. That's fine with a bicycle rack with a light bike on it, I'd be a bit more worried about a motorbike that weighs much more than ten times as much. I'm happy with a welder, but not so confident when it comes to something so critical.

I did see one of the Dave Cooper scooter racks on ebay, that had been modified to give a removable vertical support between the rack and the vehicle; that seems like a good idea to help prevent a fumbledrop into the tailgate and something I'd likely add.
