Mudflaps

Love them or hate them, they do a job. Or do they ?
Do the rears stop all the rap getting thrown up the side of the rear bumper ?

The OE ones seem a bit spendy. Are the cheaper after market ones as good, and can they be fitted without cutting or drilling ?
Any recommendations ?

Cheers,

I've had them - and hate the look they ruin the lines of a RR, I do think they make a slight difference keeping the lower bit of the doors and rear bumper cleaner, they don't seem to keep the boot or rear screen mutch cleaner, it's the lower side pannels that I found that benefit a tiny bit - I guess it would depend where you live and the nature of the roads - I am in a very rural area with loads of mud on the roads and also use the RR off-road for shooting. I would though not fit them now out of choice as they look poo! 2021 L405 Vogue SE 4.4 V8 DIESEL ~ #17

They are an essential for me, I'm in the rural countryside and my driveway is a 1mile long farm track with potholes, mud and puddles. Having had a RR's with and without mudflaps, they definitely make a difference along with side steps to keep dirt off the lower body of the car. Thumbs Up 2010 FF 4.4 TDV8 Vogue - Gone

They suit l322’s but not the 405 that well.

In all honest the rear ones are useless I’ve just fitted them to mine and they make no difference but they look better in my opinion. The fronts are useful though, keep mud off the doors and side steps. Also prevent stone chips if running bigger wheels 19 L405 4.4 AB + Disco3 pick up + 800BHP Rothmans 911

Thanks guys.

This is my car after 8 days (as posted on the snow foam thread)

Tdsix, we have a muddy track for a drive too, plus muddy surrey lanes to get to work.
The dirty lanes is why I'm keeping the steps on for now.
I'm thinking that rear mudflaps might cut down the dirt a bit more at the back.
Gunning, interesting that you say the rears don't work to well, that's a shame Confused
I do agree they spoil the lines. If they keep the car cleaner though I could be tempted.

Just wanted to know if the cheaper after market ones fit as well as the OE ones without needing to cut holes to clamp them on. Too many toys, not enough time

If you fit them avoid drilling through the side panels at first fix - you can then take them off if you don't like them without any permanent holes left behind. 2021 L405 Vogue SE 4.4 V8 DIESEL ~ #17

As said above, don’t drill and bolt them to the outer bodywork... Use double sided tape on the bumper edge and winglets 👍

Well I didn't have them, Didn't really care if the car got dirty, It gets cleaned each week anyway. My issue was with it throwing crud all over the caravan when on country roads etc and having to clean it when we arrived at site. So I fitted a full set front and rear, I like the look and it does stop some of the stuff hitting the caravan.
