Hi all just joined this morning as I have decided to take the plunge and finaly treat myself to my dream car for as long as I can remember, I know the cost of running etc and it still does not put me off, but could do with some advice from current owners, I have spent a few months researching looking at prices, models etc but dont want to jump before trying for a bit more sound advice. Looking at around a 2011- 2012 model in vogue spec or Westminster as that is about my budget limit, so many reviews on engines and correct me if wrong but is the 4.4 V8 the better of the diesel set ups? so many differing reviews but the TDV6 seems to have slightly more niggles.

will be a big change from my current car and getting some good trade in deals on it, but really think I need to get it right here regarding engine set up on the RR before pressing the button.
any advice would be greatly appreciated

Gaz

United Kingdom 2013 Range Rover Vogue SE SDV8 Santorini Black

Welcome Very Happy

Have a read through the wiki (top right menu under fullfatrr.com) as there's lots of good threads in there including a buyers guide.

The 4.4 TDV8 seems to have less issues, but there is an oil drain one (details in the wiki)
The TDV6 is only available in the newer shape L405
The diesel engine prior to the 4.4 TDV8 was the 3.6 TDV8 and the original one was the 3.0 TD6 - the 3.6 had a few more issues than the 4.4

A bit early in my ownership of my MY2011 4.4 TDV8 to give specific advice but would say research exactly what suits your budget and usage (mpg etc) before test driving. I'm glad I knew exactly what I was looking for in terms of vehicle and reputation of garage because the first one I test drove I had to buy. They are that impressive!
