Radio not working Water ingress

Afternoon gentleman, Jumped in the car today after it had been raining all day, There was a crackling kind of noise coming out of the speakers and no radio, opened up the compartment in the rear of the car on the n/side were the sat nav and amps are located, it was soaking wet, water was dripping of the holder for the DVD for the sat nav. I haven't used the car for a couple of days so must be due to recent downpour, Any ideas TIA Mark 2004 vogue

hopefully it will dry out...

you'll need a 'water shedder' ..loads on this ,do a search..

and you'll need to check the tailgate rubber seal to make sure the water isnt coming via that. ... - .- -.

You really need to remove the dsp, Satnav and tv module and put them in an airing cupboard for a couple of days to dry out. You may be lucky they may start to work again. The radio module can be left in place initially, it tends not to get wet.
Once you have the bits out you may need to mop up water from the bottom of the compartment and dry it out. It would also be worth looking below your spare wheel to see if water has accumulated there. Whilst all the bits are out it is worth checking the various plugs for corrosion.
As Stan says you need to look to the upper tailgate seal particularly the top near side corner, that's the usual problem area. It may need to be replaced, very common problem.
Once you get all the bits back in you can only hope everything works again. If not, no doubt you will be back. Thumbs Up

Also put some silicone around rear tailgate hinges where they attach to the body of car and I had a leak via the sat nav roof mounted aerial so I ran a bead of silicone round this also now all good....I have some slight water ingress in spare wheel well but have no idea where this is getting in.... Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 SDV8 SVO Stying Pack
