Paul, is the ABS wire-in connector dry? I only ask because it is fitted upside down adn collects water which then sits adn corrodes the contacts. When Mine had all your symptoms I disconnected the ABS unit, cleaned the little bits of Green gunk on the pins, dried it and made sure it was as water-tight as poss- never had a problem again.

The only thing I can think of is the wiring loom with a nick in it and only shorts out when it moves against something metallic?

Yes still around! Still getting the intermittent bongs! What the main problem is that we need the car almost daily, and to send off the unit to BBA Reman to be checked out means taking all the hydraulic pipes off, and if that isn't the issue then its money and time down the drain.

Did you get a fix with your problem?

As previously mentioned, you need to check your ABS sensors, reluctor rings, and wiring/connectors first .
Experience is the only genuine knowledge, but as time passes, I have forgotten more than I can remember Wink

You only send the module to be looked at NOT the hydraulic part, so no pipes have to be disconnected. From memory its just 4 screws and then you carefully pull the module away from the hydraulic unit. I swapped mine over for a good used unit and it solved my problems. ______________________________

Paul, Simon is right, its onlt six torx screws, but best to first remove the few bits directly in front of it before you try.. all in all its @bout 10 minutes, being careful not to drop the two right hand side lower torx into the abbys!

i actually have a good tried unit which you would be welcome to try , the only problem is that be ause one of th3 pins was corroded i replaced one with a little wire link which you solice into the wiring loom once youve got the unit in place .. very easy , but completely understand if you ar3 not keen..

i could post it to you.. and once tried you can post b@ck..

i have solved my 3 amigo lights, basically i changed the two front speed sensors ( even though they were reading ok..

was a bit of a pain changing the first because they are always really jammed in.. but once i got the hand drill out and carefully drilled right through with a 1/4 drill .. i learned the procedure..

i still have the crazy volts reading on the left front height sensor, which i f3lt sure was the oroblem.. but no-one could give me a reason for this .. so i just had to ignore it and it worked.. its bloody magic not to have th3 lights.. although having now said this it may well come back.. that the ways things seem to work for me... but in the meantime Bliss!!!

I actually replaced ABS solenoid unit ( the one you need to change ) a couple of times, first of all i removed mine cut the back off a thought id have @ go resoldering.. which i am fairly good at but got in a bit of a mess so scrapped this unit and purchased another on ebay second hand , but ironically once 8 got this b@ck i noticed that it had once of the little pins corroded through .. hence the little mod i did.. but then realising that if i ever had to take mine to a garage , and that looked
most likely i then order another . leaving me with a spare..

but in my case the abs was not the fault. of course..

but i know quite a bit more about these little Censored now!

Only just read your post! Don't know how, but I checked on the the DVLA web site today and IT PASSED THE MOT Bow down Bow down Bow down

Anyway, gives me more time now to have a good look at the ABS ECU and connections to see if I can find what the problem is. I'll let you know about the try-out of your unit, and soldering is not a problem.

Just take module off,, no pipes, get it checked , can still run car in default mode.

Have a look at what goes down on my thread , D Day tomorrow with new Genuine sensors , but check the ste of tour abs rings first , every thing shuts down due to bad input with wheel speed sensors or rings , depending on how corroded they are.

I have. I fitted one about two years ago.

I used P.A.Soft 1.4 to code the secondhand module to my car, basically changing the stored VIN in the module to mine. The most important thing to do is to calibrate the steering angle sensor afterwards as it stores the information about where the wheels are pointing so that the ABS module can enable HDC.
