My guess is that they were added to try and prevent the telescopic tailgate struts being so exposed to corrosion..... now it's just the seals that corrode!! Rolling Eyes

I'm not sure about that, I have had the telescopic struts replaced under warranty and the replacements are now rusty too. They lasted much longer on my 2004 car with similar use, so I'm guessing the paint is poorer quality, perhaps due to regulations designed to protect the environment. My rear window trims were also replaced (twice) under warranty due to corrosion, the latest set seems not to be corroding yet. Only Range Rovers since 1988

By chance the dealer I just purchased the car from read this thread I sent to them and managed to get me a set of trims FOC from Landrover. They did say it took some doing as Landrover still stated it wasn't a corrosion issue.

So next question- I assume the old ones will be stuck on with grime and of course some Superglue where the previous owner tried to stick the bubbling sections down. Any advice? I aim to separate with a clean Stanley blade then clean with thinners (avoiding paint spillages!) where necessary and hopefully slide the new ones straight on???

Couldn't have been easier, slip off, slip on with two 3M sticky tabs on each end.
To be fair though the glass looked fine with them both off.

United Kingdom 2010 Range Rover Vogue SE TDV8 Santorini Black

Hi all, recently bought my RR with similar issue, but replacement parts thrown in also..
Being a warm day for once, managed to remove old trims, including the little wobbly bits at the end... Smile
Does anyone have any tips on how to insert/replace the new self adhesive wobbly bits where they're glued under the rear window? Thanks in advance.. Smile

+1 I am interested in that too. Is it really that easy to fix/slide the new parts in? Instagram @l322passion

United Kingdom 2010 Range Rover Vogue TDV8 Stornoway Grey

I recently swapped my 2004 for a 2010. The 2004 had a trim across the bottom of the glass but no trims at the side however the 2010 had the side trims (corroded and now replaced) but no bottom trim. 2010 3.6TDV8 Stornoway Grey/ Black interior - gone
2005 4.4V8 (M62) Bonatti Grey/ Parchment interior - gone
1998 4.6HSE Blue/ Cream interior (can't remember exact colours) - gone
1977 White - gone (should have kept)

Common issue - they are £32 each side to replace! I will find the part number if anyone wants it.
