Towbars and motorbikes? Solution required!

Good evening all

One month into ownership and loving my 2006 FFRR.

On my now departed D3 I had a fixed towbar, to this I fitted a large square section bracket that in turn held two andjustable feet. Into these feet slotted the wheels of my motorbike. Three ratchet straps, one looped through the top of the rear hatch and the bike sayed rock solid when being transported. Perfect.

On my wish list when searching for the FFRR was a towbar. I carry pedal bikes around a lot, my motorbike only once a month or so. This one has a removable one fitted. This is fine for carrying the cycle rack ( and wont act as a mud brake when off road) but clearly will not carry my motorbike. Has anyone got a solution?

Clearly I could just buy a different design towbar but I sadly can not afford one! Neither have I the cash for a trailer, or the space to keep it!

Carl

You can purchase an alternative mount to attach to the armature. This has the plate that you need. Check out the westfalia.de manufacturers website for the part number then order it from somewhere like towequipe. It may even show you in the accessory section of the catalogue or Topix.

the bike carrier would bolt between the tow bar and the tow ball, this pic shows a plate in between

Thats not the factory fit FFRR towbar Ebay RRS bar . If you had then the part i displayed is the bit you need. Then the plate would fit between the towball and plate. Ian
