Stop Start working again now warmer weather arrives

Yesterday when we had warmer weather the Stop/Start kicked it for the first time in months !

I know there are a load of parameters to be met before it activates but was still taken by surprise when it happenned.

Ok outside temperature was 20c but I had only driven a mile and temp gauge had hardly moved.

AirCon was on low so asking a lot from the system.

All I can think of is the FBH wasn't needed - does anyone know the temperature this kicks in or off ?

Battery has been fine after a few long runs past few weeks but Stop/Start did not activate until yesterday.

Any thoughts..

Duff stop start battery - warmer weather increase the volts/amps etc to cross the cut-off threshold 2021 L405 Vogue SE 4.4 V8 DIESEL ~ #17

Fwiw, I absolutely hate the stop start - it is going to be permanently disabled very shortly - plus I have found it extremely dangerous hesitating at stupid moments at a junction when trying to pull out - whoever invented it needs a jolly good slap 2021 L405 Vogue SE 4.4 V8 DIESEL ~ #17

Shocked so it works just off the foot brake ?

Mine doesn’t have it, but my sons VW requires the handbrake before it cuts off.

Update

I bought a Ctek MXS 5.0 and all was well after a full recon.
A couple of days later it stopped working again.

MD has tested the car today and it is booked in to replace the auxillary battery. Thanks Vogue. Thumbs Up

They will keep it in overnight to double check the main battery for any drain etc.

All covered by warranty and happy with the attention given by Guy Salmon Sheffield. BMW X3 30e XDrive M Sport

Don't press too hard on the brake pedal after stopping the car and it doesn't activate.

Never had a problem when I don't want it to activate.

Our system on the D4 is brake pressure sensitive so, if you don't want it to stop then don't press too hard on the peddle! Thumbs Up

I pull up in traffic and when i want the engine to stop, i simply push a little harder on the brake peddle a moment after the car has halted and the engine shuts off... Simples Thumbs Up

That way, i don't have the vibration etc associated with a tractor engine on tick over... Rolling Eyes Wink

Yes that does work in theory, in reality though you forget and it always cuts in just when you don’t need it. I cannot think of one single occasion where it has ever activated when I wanted it to - then again I only drive very very rarely into central London or similar cities where it may be an advantage. To me it’s just an absolute pain up the ass - I fecking hate it 2021 L405 Vogue SE 4.4 V8 DIESEL ~ #17

What beats me is JLR dont listen... really needs a pernamant off switch instead /as well as the single journey on/offs

One day I’m going to start a “Listen here JLR thread” , a place for all our good ideas! Filters are in fact so good that in certain circumstances, when the ambient air is already polluted, a diesel car will tend to extract more particles from the air than it emits. Emissions Analytics worked with........etc etc

He who dies with the most toys wins...

But if there were a permanent on/off switch then it wouldn’t meet Euro ? Emmisions would it!

Intersting so there is a separate battery for the start stop. It hasn't worked for about a year on my wife's SC and I can't recall it working much before then. 1994 Range Rover LSE Autobiography
