Lazy Hand /Park / E Brake

11.5 MY 4.4TDV8.

If the vehicle is in Drive, stationary with my foot on the brake pedal, on a level surface and I engage the handbrake and release the brake pedal it will not restrain the car. A second pull on the lever and the hand brake does hold the car (stops the slow moving car dead).

No heat in the rear wheels when driven (hand brake off Very Happy) so it is releasing OK but I am thinking some linkage / mechanism or other needs some lubrication.

Anyone care to venture some thoughts on what needs lube?? Embarassed Bish.

Mine did that intermittently....though would still hold the car on flat, but not slope, so not as bad. As you say, second pull sorted it.

It seems according to research that the handbrake shoes/disk/hub etc get crud/rust in over time and eventually it just all grinds together. Mine made a bit of a noise if you really listened, when the wheel went round. It got looked at during the last service and they cleaned it all out, fitted new rear disks and adjusted again, and all is good again.

Had the old girl serviced yesterday and all they had to do was adjust it a couple of clicks so all good again. Smile Bish.
