Air Con blowing cold from one vent only

Hi all,

Is there a separate temperature sensor in each of the dash vents? My AC is blowing ice cold from the passenger side dash vent but only coolish from the drivers side.

Vent Dial is turned to maximum cold setting too so not sure why the discrepancy.

Any thoughts?

Cheers

i have this too, one vent blows warmer air then the other, but i know there is only one temp sensor located in the heater control unit. V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.

I quote from Workshop Manual,

"If a fault develops in the input from the temperature selector switch on the control panel, the ATC ECU adopts a default
value of 24 °C (75 °F)."

This would tend to explain why one side vents blow warm ie 24C and the other side vents operate correctly in response to the setting of the appropriate lh / rh temperature selector switch.
I think the only way to resolve this would be to connect to diagnostics and find / clear / resolve the logged fault.

Hmmm - I now seem to have these symptoms! The passenger side blows chilled air, but the drivers side is non chilled. However, if you turn up the temperature on the drivers side then it is happy to heat up. Could there be a flap stuck somewhere? My IID tool shows no HVAC errors however (which I would expect if one of the temperature switches was giving errors)...

I've also had these symptoms when:
a) the air con gas had leaked to a low level
b) the compressor was fubarred

perhaps get an el cheapo air con gas top off first to see if that helps?

I can confirm I've had this twice and it was fixed with a recharge - seems I have a very small undetectable leak.

to check this (if you have an IIDTool) check live values for your evaporator temp - you'll find its not very cold when running.

I have exactly the same issue, had Kwik fit do a recharge and after that all the vents were cold for a week. So it must be a gas leak.

Done a search and this thread seems to say a regas may cure cold from one side only.

I have the same symptom now with ice cold on any passenger vents and only ambient on any drivers vents.

Does anyone know if the blend motor throws up a DTC

I have no DTC's and therefore wonder if the blend motors is actually at fault.
