Compare this picture with the earlier picture of the original drain. The short pipe is an extra one that empties directly into the sump rather than into the scavenger pump sump.

PS. The pipe connects at the top to the turbo using a flange and seals with a gasket, not an O-ring.

Hi Graeme, thanks for the info. Good to know it's a gasket vs o-ring.
I think your post here http://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic40047....p;start=45 proves I don't have the drain mod. What do you think?
Cheers, Greg Cheers, Greg

I spotted today that mine has caught the oil leak bug with oil all over the back of the engine. The source appears to be the oil filter/cooler housing gasket. Not really any oil forward of the housing but plenty just over the back.

Yes, it was done by the LR dealer at my request as a condition of the purchase. Having only travelled 18K kms the turbo was still tight so no evidence of the problem but I knew that it would become a problem sooner or later.

The fix for my oil leak?

I'm thinking about some UV oil additive, drive for a few days then get her up on a ramp with a UV light and look of the source.

Saw it on YouTube.. Cheers, Greg

Cheers chaps. This one's been a bit sidelined by my full DPF which has taken priority!

Here's a vid on the UV Engine Oil Dye method:

Tons more like it on the Tube.

Hi Rob, no haven't found it.
Weirdly I ran some UV additive in the oil then had a really good hunt using a UV torch up on a ramp but it didn't show.
I thought I saw a potential source around NS exhaust lower side and tried to get a photo but the camera wouldn't focus.
So it's still wet so as yet unsolved!
. Cheers, Greg

yes, had both sump covers off.
the sunspected area is a bit higher though,
visible with the wheel off, through the gap in the wheel arch.
. Cheers, Greg
