What should I budget on a used 405?

Hi good people!

I am considering swapping my third L322 for a L405. Love the TDV8, but curious to try something new. In norway the prices are quite steep, so looking at 2013-2014 with milage around 70-110.000 kilometers.

Most cars tend to need a lot of parts roundt 60.000 miles. Hows it with the 405? What kind of parts needs changing? Coming from early l322 I remember there being an awful lot to change, whereas my 07 tdv8 has been better and in need of far less maintenance.

Warranty in norway ends at 100.000 kilometers/5 years, so idelly i would like a 14-modell with less then 100k on it, to sort out stuff popping up while I still have the warranty

Impossible to answer really - some people have no problems at all and others need a new engine......

My insurance will cover stuff like an engine going, gearbox and drive line.

I was more thinking about normal maintenance, like brakes, rust, corrosion, suspensions etc.

I’ve been pleasantly surprised - tyres and brake pads seem to last quite well

I’ve had no issues with corrosion, suspension or anything like that. I did change all the fluids as a proactive measure.

I’m still on the original batteries that are now 5 years old, so expect to replace those soon.

My lower tailgate won’t automatically close any more, but I’ve got used to doing it manually - the upper still works fine.

To be honest I'm with Alistair, I've found my tyres and brakes to last me about 34k and that was mix of motorway and regular driving.

I'm looking at the new PHEV for delivery in Oct but I'm also tempted to just pay off my finance and keep the car for another year as the car works perfectly and tbh I don't see a huge level of difference in my car if I'm honest as I now have a towbar which is all I moaned about. all smug in my new plug!

Cool.

The PHEV cost around 165.000£ in norway, whereas the tdv6 from 14 will set me back around 70. Personally I dont see much difference to the facelift and pre-facelift and dont want to spent the ekstra 95k on it.
