Engine System Fault

Hi having problems with a 3.6 tdV8. Really bad timing as i'm stretched at the moment. Trying to find out if this is a wallet breaker, or merely a denter.

Car is going into limp at 50mph with Engine System Fault. It's not triggering any fault codes that my code reader, or indeed the AA's can see.

I think its performance is reduced I think, and it is very sooty with black smoke. I don't think it's the boost hoses.

It does smell very diesely under the bonnet, and the underside of the top cover looks contaminated towards the rear left...

Any ideas any one please?

Sikaflex used on mine as the above post as the drivers side manifold had split and was on back order! Must have covered atleast 800 miles with no issues! Will eventually get round to fitting new manifold at some point! 2004 td6 l322 - gone
Now 2007 tdv8 l322
