I am after a few diagrams for another madcap idea, specifically the powered tailgate module / struts / locks Whistle Too many toys, not enough time

Can't help myself, and annoyed my wife's evoque has powered tailgate but my car doesn't Laughing

It would also be handy to know lengths of the 405 struts (open, and body length) Too many toys, not enough time

Your problem will be the 322 does NOT have a self closing latch on the top or lower tailgates, meaning, if you got it to open and close... How would you get the latch to self/soft close?

Thanks Craig, good thoughts.

Both top and bottom latches are electrically operated, though granted they aren't soft close.
I was going to investigate how this might work, and it may well be more than just the struts as you say.

I looked / measured / compared the wife's rear end Mr. Green last night to mine Shocked

I think the blocker is going to be whether the electric struts will fit in the rain channels either side for the top half.
It's 55mm wide on the evoque, 35mm on the 322, and the struts are ~30mm, so not much clearance.

It's probably more trouble than its worth to spend a bunch of money on buts that can't be made to fit without serious body mods, but certainly worth determining what the hurdles are to overcome Smile Too many toys, not enough time

ABAB,

John is trying to work out if he can retrofit/cobble together auto close on a 2011 L322 tailgate.

As above, what a bonkers idea -- but I like it and if it can be done I'm up for it Very Happy

Bushy has got it Thumbs Up

Auto open (and subseqyently close too) from the push of a button on the remote / tailgate / dash was my first objective.
Since it already electrically releases I was hoping to initially add the struts and controller.

This all started with a bit of armchair speculation, and wanting to check the wiring diagrams Wink Too many toys, not enough time

Bushy (and anyone else watching this)

I had a bit more of a play at the weekend, trying to determine if the electric struts will fit in the rain channel on the 322. I concluded that they might, but it was a very tight squeeze, and would ideally need mods that I'm not prepared to do to my car.

This is therefore a no go for me, but if anyone else feels the need, carry on Wink

With respect to the topic title, I have not managed to get my hands on the relevant 405 wiring diagrams either.

p.s. Admins, given that this expanded somewhat away from the original title, you may want to retitle it and move it into the L322 technical section. Too many toys, not enough time

John, I was going to say that you've got no sense of adventure Wink but then realised you own a Range Rover!!!

How tight is it, and what mods do you think might be required?

It is the depth of the rain channel.
I removed one of my struts and laid a cardboard tube the same diameter as those on the wife's evoque (30mm) in the channel, then closed the tailgate.
It squashed the tube Rolling Eyes
So whilst there is a small bit of room in width, I don't think there is any in depth. That may well require making the channel deeper to accommodate them.

If you look at the side of your tailgate you can see a pair of bump stops on the body that hit onto the lower strut mounts. Also measure the depth of the channel. I made it 20mm with the seal compressed. Too many toys, not enough time

Have a look at this thread, I know the tailgates are different but there might be some similarities and something of use within the threads...... Thumbs Up
