When are you looking to go again and to where?
Friday the 19th October I will head south for 3 nights. I will be 60 over the weekend so plan to have a big campfire and many rums. Its the last chance for a fire as beyond October total fire bans come in. I will head for Belvedere in the Leschenault Peninsula Conservation Park, Ocean one side and an estuary the other. Good fishing both sides with plenty of crabs and prawns. It was once a hippy commune in the 1970`s. The best bit is the Rangers provide free firewood as they don't want the bush chopped down. 2003 TD6, EGR delete, Dual batteries, uhf 2way, Android head unit, Led Headlights, DRL`s , Trailer brake controller. icarsoft & IPNA Diagnostics.

In the article, it also speaks of the Ningaloo Reef. I am a Scuba Diver and have dived all over the world in my younger days. By far the best and most pristine reefs I have enjoyed are the Murion Islands part of the Ningaloo reef system. On this trip I did not take my dive gear but did a bit of snorkelling whilst at Cape Range. As I have a $30 go pro clone on the Dash of the car at all times I took it for a swim to see how it went. This is filmed in 1 metre of water right off the beach..

Happy Birthday Wayne.

That's a bloody big rock!

It's funny you know, when we lived in Carnarvon 1971-72, we never thought of going to Mt Augustus (or anywhere else) - I don't think I'd even heard of it back then. These days we'd be all over it.

I worked as a tech here in Carnarvon (my Hillman in pic). We provided comms for NASA Carnarvon back to the USA and also tracked and controlled Intelsat satellites.

Re diving, is there a lot of sand over that coral? I haven't been diving since I left Norfolk Island in 1993 - we lived opposite the dive shop so was really easy to throw my gear onto their boat and go for a dive. Ron B. VK2OTC

Thanks for the Birthday wishes, 60 on the 21st Oct, Trafalgar Day. That short Vid was right on the shoreline of a sandy beach so yes sand on the coral, a little further out and deeper and it was just teeming with life. Nice pic of the Hillman at the Dish. 2003 TD6, EGR delete, Dual batteries, uhf 2way, Android head unit, Led Headlights, DRL`s , Trailer brake controller. icarsoft & IPNA Diagnostics.

Amazing how technology has enabled videos like that to be done so cheaply. Twenty or so years back and you'd have needed a thousand dollar housing. Very Happy Ron B. VK2OTC
