How heavy is it - we currently tow the largest single axle we could find (a Bailey Vigo) which comes in at about 1500Kg, which is no problem at all (just back from a 2000 mile towing holiday).

Would be interested in how you find towing it.

It’s around 1800kg. Haven’t towed it yet but our last Conqueror was 1850 and that was a dream to tow

We had a 2008 Wyoming, it was easy to tow without issue, currently have a Bailey Cartagena around 1700kg, not an issue towing it through wales, cornwall or scotland throught he hills. Only had the FF for a year or so now, but i find it to be the best tow car i have had, and that is against BMW, Mitsubishi and a v8 disco 2.

Nice van, sure you will have many good trips in it.

Loved my 2014 Conqueror 645. Great to tow with a D3/4. No problem behind a FFRR. I've just completed a 3400 mile touring holiday through Europe behind my FF and the only glitch was the brand new deployable tow bar wouldn't stow. Luckily it wasn't stuck stowed!!
The FF tows like a train and it never had any problems with my 2500kg van no matter how steep the road became. Enjoy yourselves. Thumbs Up

2t, no probem being the Fattie, my Ultima TL is plated to 1900kg and its not an issue.

Nice new van. We dont get enough use out of ours to warrant an upgrade. However as a 2010 van it seems to be holding its value quite well so it probably wouldn't take much input monies to do it. Finding a layout which suits us is the problem. I like the layout of the Avante 866 but it seemed flimsy, so I am thinking of tracking down a lightly used Buccaneer. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Just come back from my second 10 day trip with our 2012 Vanmaster occasion 640 No problem with pulling with the 4.4 ff I use the adaptive cruise a lot on motorways which is good when you run up behind slower trucks, passing smaller cars with big tin tents on the back and they are screaming the little 4 pots just to get up a hill on the M11, I get better MPG than a smaller MPV pulling a Tin tent.

My fuel consumption is affected by speed to quite an extent. I usually tow at about 65 on good clearish motorways on the Continent and get about 18/20mpg. If I slow it down to 60 I get about 24mpg. I just get a bit bored at the slower speed. As soon as the van is off it shoots up to between 30 and 36mpg which leaves the old D4 for dust at 30mpg best.
It's the noticeable torque increase against the V6 that I like with the FF. Uphill at almost any gradient is handled with a great feeling of effortlessness.

Just looking back over the older threads and have to say the Swift vans do still look very nice. The newer HT jobbies look almost car like in their design. I was a real fan of my 2014 Conqueror until it got the "pothole crease" amidships. The other issue, which is inherent in all British vans was the payload. By the time you fit AWD movers (60kg) and A/C (32kg) you've allowed yourself half a toothbrush to take with you. It was my biggest bugbear with our vans tbh. The Eriba touring gives over 400kg if you spec it. I looked at Hobby's and found they would upgrade the payload by 200kg for a minimal cost. Our van makers may offer 50kg if you're lucky. British van makers need to be far more flexible with the payloads making vans that are capable of carrying 500kg but plating them to what the customer wants. That means the costs would be reasonable across all vans because it would be bought in en mass. It would make the vans attractive to more potential customers if they could choose the maximum weight themselves and would allow tow car downsizing if the van could be replated at a lower maximum in the future.
Must ask the OP, how are you getting on with your new van?
