Scotland 2014 Range Rover Vogue SDV6 Santorini Black

After a 7 month wait, the selling dealer finally got round to replacing the 2 high gloss rear D pillar trims and re-aligned the upper tailgate that had caused minor damage to the original D pillars; and they replaced 2 of 4 rear parking sensors that were flaking/ 'de-laminating'... now leaving the car with 3 black coloured rear parking sensors and 1 grey one... unsure if they should all be black or should all be grey?

Slow puncture from a number plate screw that was on the carriageway... the LR scissor jack did well... the Mercedes Sprinter bottle jack was no good as the jacking points/ fitments don't seem compatible without modification.

Can't fault the car. 3.0 engine is superb in all environments, infotainment is spot on and the driving experience is A1.

Thumbs Up

Two day professional detail finished yesterday with ceramic coating. The car was in good order before but the finish now would not have been achieved by yours truly:

12 months on

12 months into the L405 experience and it's all positive Thumbs Up

The car has had lots of TLC during the past 12 months and has been well worth it. Hasn't missed a beat and is a pleasure to own. The 3.0 TDv6 engine has been brilliant all round and has not disappointed one bit compared with the previous 4.2SC and L322 4.4 TDV8.

Can't fault any aspect of the L405 and having recently been treated to a professional detal with ceramic coating, it looks better than ever.

Next job is to decide on what brake pads to get (ceramic or standard) to compliment the
4 new LR brake discs bought from Duckworths and which are yet to be fitted. People say go for Jurid pads but I can't source any for the L405 so it's leaning me towards trying EBC or TRW ceramic pads, if not genuine LR. There are not too many reviews on L405 brake pads beyond buying stock LR pads...

Below is a link to a rolling buyers guide and also things fettled on this L405 since buying it:

So a puncture yesterday had me browsing eBay at 6am this morning for tyres... that speculative search resulted in a very nice drive to Gareloch in the L405 on a beautiful morning...

Then on to collect what seems like bargain of the month... 2 brand spanking new Continental Cross Contact LX Sport 275/40/22 Silent tyres for £300 (chap bought them for his L405 as spares and has just bought a new RRS shod with 21” wheels, so has no use for 22”).

Fitted nicely in the boot with room to spare and didn’t even give me dirty hands, the tyres being so fresh Thumbs Up

Cheers Stan/ Mark... Chap had them on for £420 which was decent to start with. Think he was content just to offload them. Good luck and timing Thumbs Up

Nice thread Smile

I'm thinking about changing one of my cars...

I can either swap my 322 for a 405, or swap my 991 Turbo for a 458.... first world problems are the best problems Smile

Two years today since we got the L405. Near faultless and always a good ownership experience.

Just renewed the LR Extended Warranty. Can’t help wondering whether to put the warranty money to another one which would come with a warranty anyway...

In the meantime, it’s booked into a bodyshop to have a couple of wee marks removed from the door thanks to a selfish individual in a Tesla who couldn't care less opened the door onto ours.

Paintwork rectified Craig and a superb bodyshop job at that Thumbs Up

The 2 year extended warranty on our 3.0 TDv6 ended in August 2019. The engine has performed superbly. We have renewed the LR Extended Warranty. We have it in writing from LR UK that if the crankshaft fails whilst we have an LR Extended Warranty, they will replace whatever needs to be replaced at no cost to us (provided we have followed service and maintenance requirements... and we do) Thumbs Up

I'd buy another L405 3.0 TDv6 in a heartbeat (and might do in the near future). Unless I'm reading things incorrectly, it seems that more L405 4.4 TDV8 owners on this forum have experienced problems with their 4.4 engines than L405 3.0 owners (accepting that there are more 4.4 owners of course). Each to their own Thumbs Up

Man maths:
Until reading the below thread, was thinking about "swapping" our current 3.0TDv6 for a newer one so as to benefit from the 2 year LR warranty wrapped around a newer car and thus avoiding the annoyance of paying potentially "dead money" to extend the LR Warranty for 12 months... less appealing from 01.09.2019 given the AU Range Rovers now come with a minimum 12 month (not 24 month warranty) Rolling Eyes Laughing

Coming up to 3 years ownership of this L405. It has been spot on. The set of 5 genuine turbines and Continentals is now complete. Touch wood, won’t have to use this one!

3rd August - renewed LR Extended Warranty on the eve of our third year of ownership. Because the car has been so well looked after and trouble free, waited until the 11th hour deciding whether to renew or not (£146.50/ month for a warranty, less breakdown cover, is an amount worthy of note). However, never had a Land Rover car without a LR manufacturer’s warranty or extended warranty in place, so kept the warranty going.

9th August, dropped car off at main dealer having reported a dry noise from the rear wheel drive shaft and also a knocking noise from the front near side suspension; and as the car has almost new Contintental tyres all round, asked them to check/ do the wheel alignment too.

15th August - collected car from main dealer. New rear diff fitted, new front near side shock absorber fitted and all 4 wheels aligned. Thanks to the LR Extended Warranty, total cost
= £99.00 incl VAT (had to pay for 4 wheel alignment only)... car once again driving like a dream.

And that’s why we’ve always kept an LR warranty 👍🏻
