Rear diff bushes

Hi all,

So on the mot I had an advisory that the rear diff bushes were deteriorating they all look past their best on the back end looking at it. As I don’t have a ramp or garage at the moment unfortunately I think this may need to be a garage job - what kind of price would you look at paying and any recommendations Cambridgeshire? Current stable:

2007 4.2 V8 S/C FF
Gone:

Hi Dan

Can't help on prices for bushes, but had an alternator on an 11 TDV8 changed by Wallis and Sons of Barton just west of Cambridge,as could not afford to be without transport and not having second car a the time. My opinion only, but they quoted book time and stuck to it, although they went over the time, being their first Fullfat alternator change. Not cheap, IIRC £70+VAT per hour, but book it in and you can have courtesy car. Kept informed by courteous service manager. Clean workshop and they have worked on my previous BMW 7 series.

May I suggest a quote from an MD, getting the time allowed if possible? If Wallis is too pricey, and you don't need a courtesy car, then maybe someone further into Fenland, say March may be much cheaper on hourly rates. I've used Donna's in March for an MOT and her price for labour is £35 an hour. Rumour only, but said to be fair and competent, and bushes should not be rocket science.

Hope this helps. Cheers
Richard

I have two of the three diff bushes (a big one and a little one) if interested, once you find out how much new ones are... .
Experience is the only genuine knowledge, but as time passes, I have forgotten more than I can remember Wink
