Disarm interior sensors for alarm not working

Hi. I realise there are quite a few topics on how to disable the interior sensors for the alarm for when you need to leave a window open or per in the car etc, but I can't get it to disable on our 02 l322.

I noticed the led light flashed rapidly after locking the car which means mislock. Knowing the bonnet switch on these vehicles can be a problem I made sure it was being pushed down by the bonnet by sticking something on top of the switch.
Locked the car and the led no longer flashes rapidly.

I get the led stay on for a few seconds to say the interior sensors are off, after press lock button or using the key to lock the car twice within 10 seconds. I tested it by keeping the drivers window open and waving my arm about inside the car and the alarm still goes off!

Anyone know what I am doing wrong?
