The 1.5 hrs spent recharging is the step too far for me. That's only Tesla that offer the quick charging as the "normal" charge points are much lower amperage and therefore much slower. If the charging issue was overcome by something as quick as filling with fuel it would be a no brainer for most but still difficult for someone towing. As you say, tedious even with fuel at 125 miles a time. I get about 300 miles towing at about 60mph so having to stop more often would be irritating but add to that a 1.5 hr wait per refill and it becomes intolerable. Shame as the characteristics of the electric motor suits towing from a torque perspective but just not from a recharge point of view.

In practical terms you'd have to stop much more often - as you couldn't rely on every charger being operational and available.

I once drove through France towing a trailer with bikes on the roof in an old 4.7L Jeep and averaged 9.9mpg - the bigger problem was that meant a range of around 150 miles - so after half of that I started to worry about how far to the next services which led to quite a stressful journey

Towing limit is 2.5 tonnes, a tonne less.
