United Kingdom 2016 Range Rover Autobiography SDV8 Santorini Black
new starting non issue (at the moment)

Past couple of weeks I've noticed that when I get in the car to start it, and press the pedal, some times it doesn't notice ive pressed it and when I press it again the pedal feels a little harder than usual which it should..... Brakes work no problem, so its not a brake issue, its a pedal switch issue. Its not noticing every time when I get in and press the go button that I am intact pressing the brake as well!

As it hasn't noticed the first time when I press it, and it has gone harder, I have to then press even harder to get the car to notice that it is being told to start!

I will have to have a look at the switch to see if it needs a bit of adjustment to replacing! how hard can that be........ There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

I had a similar situation on a Galaxy, it relied on a spring to get to the brakes on position and it was sticking, a quick spray of silicon spray sorted it. BMW i3 Electric Car

Are you sure it's not the starter motor or starter button? My 2012 WM needed a new starter motor at about 55,000 miles, I believe the switch itself is known to be problematic too. Only Range Rovers since 1988

Suppose that depends if the symbol on the dash is still telling you to press the brake and the button to start. If it is, I don’t think it will be the starter.

I never noticed if the dash display changes if I press the brake without pressing the starter button.

Can diagnose from that if it does.

I was meaning that if that goes away when you press the brake, then the car knows you have pressed the brake so the issue is the switch or starter, if you see what I mean. Only thing is I can’t remember if that goes off normally when you put your foot on the brake. 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

If I'm parked up (engine off) for a bit and had my foot resting on the brake, I'll go to start it and it won't fire with normal foot pressure. Then a few milliseconds of minor panic, then with super press on the brake, it'll light up.

Don't know if that means the pedal switch is sensitive. But I've certainly experienced it. Cheers, Greg
