Always remember to fit the nut (the right way round) before flaring the pipe...

How you laugh when you see the perfectly routed pipe is in place perfectly aligned and the baleful looking nut is facing up the pipe instead of down...

Or my way, (did it twice) flare the second end of the pipe then look down at the nut sitting on the bench in front of me Rolling with laughter

Learnt to allow an extra inch of pipe after that Smile .

Yeah I've been watching different bending and flaring videos and they all remind you about the fittings yet some still forget. That flaring tool seems to be made in Taiwan and sold here in the US under Titan Tools and Eastwood Automotive labels. Seems to be the best design for a dedicated 3/16 in on the vehicle flaring tool.

The important issue with flaring tools is that they have a firm but gentle and non marking / non distorting grip on the pipe so that the flaring end has a firm base to work against. I have a couple or three about the place two bought, one inherited. First one I got was on the "not going to do many so don't spend too much" basis. Not the cheapest but looked to be best of the less than expensive designs. Mistake as it barely held well enough and proved very sensitive to tube diameter. Just about OK on proper kunifer but unhappy on "factors brand"same-as-kunifer and copper.

Yup. Ended up doing more than the couple of and odd jobs I expected! So when a pro version came up on E-Bay at £ very, very reasonable I bit. Used it once in 5 years. At least the other two means the good one never becomes a loaner.

When you are saving money by DIY its wise to invest some of the savings on proper tooling. Especially these days when most tools are relatively cheap compared to labour costs. If its a job you don't do often or something you are not in practice with the last thing you need is a balky or hard to drive set-up.

Just want to confirm that the double flare is the only type of flare needed for this repair. No bubble flares needed for the line to flex hose connections?

Excellent! OK off to Land Rover to get the spring clips and then off to my mechanic.

Now if your talking about the spring clips on the front pipes between the pipe and flexi you may struggle.

My local delear told me they were discontinued and our site sponsor dan at duckworth’s couldn’t help me either so had to reuse my old ones. Current: 16 my2016 Range Rover l405 4.4 sdv8 Aruba gold & 11 MY2011 RANGE ROVER L322 4.4 TDV8 ZERMATT SILVER

The black pipe clips in pic below I re-used then formed the pipes and pressed them into the recess, didn't use the clips as a forming aid felt they would break if I did.

Yes, I had the same problem but contacted Martin at AYLMER (01707 665588) and he was able to get me 2.

The part number is :- SGK100670L , I did a quick search and found a couple of suppliers for you. I dont know if they have got any (£3.50 each).

Thanks guys. My dealer has ordered them for me at $9.50 each. I think I am going to cancel that order. They look the same as BMW clips for $.97 each. Thanks for the picture to confirm that.
