pressure washing

since reading this forum i'm getting paranoid about damp etc (i blame Dan and the aircon thing Smile )

with the jeep i could use the big karcher on full power and never had a problem

BUT

i'm getting worried about the RR

i've been over three ploughed fields this morning and it needs a bath - its currently dark brown from ground to roof

so in all seriousness is there a problem with pressure washers?

thanks guys/gals

the clue is in the title nick, water under pressure....it will find any opening into the range and will get into the many electronics we have ...in fact pressure washers will take off paint in some circumstances...
go waterless or in your muddy situation use soapy water and rinse off with a very low water flow hose pipe, or like me wait for it to rain.. ... - .- -.

so it will be Snow Foam under low pressure - followed by a quick rinse off using the karcher from a 'distance' and then two bucket method and rinse with filtered water

talking of pressure washers and stripping paint - i managed to strip the clear coat lacquer off my Porsche front bumper many years ago!! - i was horrified as it came off in 'sheets'!

Nick, what filter are you using? I've been looking at the in-line jobbys but can't find one with high flow rates. Or should I just be rinsing at the end with it?

As per PW, just don't use it too close to the paint and don't hover along the joints too much.

PS. remember to silicone spray your door seals after a hardcore wash session Thumbs Up

thanks Dan

i have the DF Peerless water filtration system

cost in 2007 was £118 inc discount

it has two 'chambers' one with a salt rechargeable filter the other with a 'cotton' filter

it is supposed to give a rinse that is totally free of water spots/streaks

not used through the pressure washer but through the hose at low pressure - final rinse

worth the money - most certainly not imo - it was aimed a detailing nerds with more money than sense

in fact before i bought it i used the Flash system that had simple replaceable cartridges that were in fact better - still using this as i bought a job lot of cartridges when the system was discontinued

tbh - just use tap water and whilst still damp apply megs quick detailer - better job

This really depends on how hard your local water is if it is a warm day you cannot get all the water towelled off a Rangey fast enough to stop hard water marks. I use a large water but filled with water via a filter and then pour this over the car as a final rinse can let the car air dry and no water marks Smile Far to many gone...
