EAS inoperative after battery died

Having recently returned from holiday to a completely dead battery, I ordered and fitted a new one (thanks to this forum for advice on changing the battery) and sure enough got more or less every warning light and error message displayed on the dash. After driving a few miles they all went back to normal, but I forgot to do the old steering to full lock left then right trick. A couple of days later I noticed that there were no lights on the EAS controls, although there was no air suspension inactive messages in the display. I then tried doing the steering trick, but it had no effect - still no lights on the EAS controls and the ride height stays constant at the normal setting. Should I try disconnecting the earth lead from the battery, reconnecting and then immediately doing the steering wheel jiggle? I'm also going to clean the contacts in the towing electrics, although I suspect if it was down to this, I might get messages about failed trailer bulbs. Does anyone have any other suggestions? And finally any thoughts on the Faultmate FSR from Blackbox Solutions - is this a better buy than the EAS Activate device? My car is an '03 4.4 petrol HSE. And finally, finally, although I'm new to this forum, I have had great experiences with the Disco3 forum and can only thank all those with specialist knowledge who are willing to share it with inexperienced car mechanics like myself.

Yes, reset and try again. ie disconnect the battery for a while then do the full lock left to right after first start.

let the ecu's shut down before disconnecting the battery. 2004 black Vogue TD6

Tried that this morning. EAS is still inactive,but I do at least get the message in the dash display now as well.....which has got me thinking. I've been meaning to take the car to my local tyre/exhaust shop to check out a phut-phut-phut sound, which is coming from the front lower RHS of the car (most noticeable near the wheel arch area), which I had thought might be a small hole either in part of the exhaust, or in the manifold gasket, HOWEVER...could it be a failure in the suspension air receiver, or the valve block or one of the airlines. Could it be the compressor itself, or is that further toward the rear of the car?
Thinking I should invest in a Faultmate FSR.

Nooooo:

Wait a few weeks for the Rover All Coms software, it won't be locked to one vehicle.

Or buy the EAS Activate, a great piece of kit that you can just leave in the door pocket.

I was thinking about the EAS Activate as well, but am I right in thinking it only deals with the EAS ECU, whereas the Faultmate FSR communicates with ALL ECUs? I know the Faultmate is locked to only one VIN, but I only have one Range Rover (Although I do have the D4 as well). I would view it as an aftermarket upgrade to the car that would stay with the car even if I sold it. Much like I would leave a towbar on the car if I sold it.

The All Comms software does look good and seems to cover all systems with an ECU. Only drawback there is that I junked all my Microsoft based PCs in favour of Macs sometime ago. I would have to get a cheap netbook just to run the software.

dan, are you one of the beta testers or is this a full retail version, also bit of a nob question, using this software if i clear a light error [led in halogen light] will this stay cleared all the time..

might be worth starting a new thread re this as i can see it being much talked about. ... - .- -.

Beta tester.

With the bulb monitoring one turns the feature on or off. So you would turn the monitoring for that particular circuit off (not sure if this function is available in RAC yet, I will confirm upon delivery)

There is a rover all coms thread somewhere - I will start a new one when the thing arrives.

Ive just got my EAS activate. Great simple bit of kit. Did get stopped at customs though who put another £36 import tax on it this side of America before they would deliver it! Will look at this other bit of kit to when its avaliable. Reformed
