20" Wheels

Hello All

Well ive gone and done it, Put a Deposit down on a 04 TD6 vogue, Laughing

I have a question if anybody can help

It has 20" wheels but only an 18" Spare

Can a 20" wheel fit in the spare wheel well or is 18 as big as will fit?

Cheers

20"

Not sure about the answer to your question but speak to the dealership about putting 20" alloys on a TD6. My local dealership said no because you get a vibration when the car is idling - say sat at a junction etc.

This why most of them are on 18 or 19 inch versions.

Yeh the 20's did cause a vibration when idling, think the problem was sorted on the 06 model (05 onwards) year when the supercharged was introduced

I have a facelift 06 MY but I wouldn't put 20 inch wheels on it, after going through several sets on my last car (RRS Supercharged) they are completely useles and totally gauranteed to get scuffed, marked and dinged. That's just on the road, don't even think about taking them off road.

I'd go for the current 19" as the only upgrade, being able to bounce of kerbs when parking is much nicer than hearing that horrible graunching sound as your prized alloys get ruined.

Take advice from one who has suffered and learnt the hard way.

On the Question of 20"

The Standard size on mine is 255/50/20

What other sizes are fitted to 20's

I also believe the rolling circumference of the 19" tyres/wheels are the same as the 18" versions but not sure of the difference with the 20" ones.

I also wouldn't go the 20" route - not only do I not like the 20" look, but the ride is poor, causes bangs and jolts through the suspension and is very suseceptible to damage. They are OK though on perfect roads without Kerbs!

Tyre sizes :-

255/60/18
255/55/19
255/50/20

all have the same rolling radius. As the rim diameter goes up, the aspect ratio decreases, i.e. 60 down to 55 to 50 etc... to keep the overall rolling radius the same.

Although I have 19" on my vehicle, the 18" are definitely the most comfortable and I have hit huge kerbs and used them off road with absolutely no damage of any sort - the 19" are a good compromise though

I'm told because of the brakes I have 19" is my only option but do agree the 20" ride is a little harsh
