Had the JE Engineering Stage 1 Tune on the TD6

Ok, I might be jumping the gun in terms of writing this up as I've only driven the car 35 miles since it was done this morning but WOWAH WEEWAAH! - High Five! as Borat would say.

John and Annette are really friendly, very knowledgable too, you sit waiting like a father-to-be in the waiting room area, a plethora of up to date Land Rover mags to keep you busy while you wait and a bacon butty van a few yards away should you get peckish. I had a quick sneak inside the workshop, their special LR90 is in there at the moment, the one with the Union Jack artwork all over it, their Supercharged Sport Stage 1 was there too, plus the specially rebuilt Bahrain 2 door classic as posted by PaulB, in fact the Editor of LRO magazine John Pearson rolled up while I was there to take it out and do a photo shoot for an article to be appearing in LRO next month I guess.

Anyway, how does it drive? Bl**dy brilliant is the answer! It's got a whole new lease of life, the mid range pull is brilliant and I can now overtake things with much more confidence, at motorway speeds it really zips up past the legal limit with ease into triple figures, before it was quite laboured.

I'd recommend this to anyone and in fact I'm taking it round for my dad to have a go in tonight to see if I can convince him to get his done too.

An excellent modification and a great friendly team who did it. Top marks to JE!

Now, if I see some fuel savings too I'll be cockahoop as they say.

On long runs I am averaging about 25-26mpg but I do travel around at about 90mph. If you go slower it creeps up to 27+, even had it at 30mpg but that was driving like my dad.

I understand that JE Engineering use the Autologic upgrade.

Is that correct? I know it's the case with the Discovery 3.

My mistake - It's Turbo Chip that uses the Autologic upgrade.

Does anybody have experience of the Hurricane high power download (re-map)?

Can someone tell me if the FFRR received the same diesel engine changes as the BMW X5 did between 2002 and when it was replaced in 2007? I seem to recall the X5 started with around 130Kw and 480nm and ended up with around 150kw and 500nm? Did the last TD6 FFRR have the latter power and torque? ANyone know what a Turbochip remap does to the latter engine? I'm thinking if it goes to say 180kw and 580nm it wouldnt be a bad bit of kit as they say!!!
