leather clean/nourish products - advice please

though in the past i was quite keen on detailing i'll be the first to admit that leather care etc is not my strong point

my GC was no problem because it was black leather

however the RR is ivory (nearly white!) - so its a very different kettle of fish

also of course i do not know what was used in the past except to say the leather is all 'as new'

thanks in anticipation

For me I'd use gliptone cleaner or autoglym or occasionally zymol but no conditioner as the leather is basically painted and sealed so all a conditioner does is leave a greasy (admittedly nice smelling) layer on the surface to build up shine an look poo.

You can get leather sealants which prevent dye transfer which are probably useful I think I saw some threads on detailing world- only problem is there seem to be two rival companies Dr Leather and someone else and I don't know who's better- they both seem really helpful and people rave about the dr leather wipes for general gleaning and maintenance.

To be honest in the past on sealed leather I've used dilute all purpose cleaner and a damp micro fibre. Also 303 aerospace protectant is pretty good for leather once it's clean.

Hope some of this rambling helps?!

yes, leather is a really controversial subject - worse than waxes!

i remember some time ago on DW there was a poster 'Julie'? who was in the leather business and really put the proverbial cat among the pigeons Laughing

Can't believe I didn't know about Liquid Leather. Shocked

Had a good read of their website, duly purchased a scuffmark set and the cleaner and conditioner. My leather is in excellent condition aside from a small wear mark where previous lazy owner slid in and out on the driver's seat.

Can't wait to give my car the full spring clean this year Very Happy

Wash, clay bar, scrub, polish and wax, plus all the trimmings. Will feel like Christmas! Cool Discovery 4 HSE
