Corroded brake pipes

Well that just tops this week off, friggin brake pipes corroded through (both at rear) on a six year old car Evil or Very Mad they are corroded so much that fluid is pouring out onto the drive, which is how i came to notice it.

Good job it wasn't last week when i was towing the caravan on the motorway.

Landrover ownership again after this one, NO CHANCE.

Change your MOT station or servicing garage. This sort of thing should be picked up. It is not Land Rovers fault in all honesty. Land Rover Addict

I'll second that, brake pipes are consumables are far as I am concerned, the same as tyres and wipers etc

Yes they are, but I would also expect them to last more than 6 years..

depends, the range rover is capable of going off road ,in water and mud so if yours has done this then its very possible that the pipes 'could' corrode prematurely... ... - .- -.

Yes point taken - We have a 6 year old Renault, the brake pipes are still like new. This is what I was comparing to, but then it has never been off-road.. Wink

if you have a RR that has been used to launch boats and / or on very salty roads or driven by idiots in the surf (aka Clarkson) then 6 years is good going - I have seen them last only 24 months in harsh conditions Shocked

The pipes concerned were hidden under the plastic box where the fuel filter is located so could not be seen.

As an update i have changed the both front to back pipes which are split under the ns inner wing liner.
Along the whole length of the pipes were corroded and broke up in about six pieces when removed.
I have replaced them with the copper type pipe so hopefully no more corrosion.

Still not happy with it though to have leaked so soon with no offroading done at all.
I know they do corrode but on a car thats made to be offroaded frequently, you have to admit its a bit crap.

After all the "that things going and what a load of crap" i am still keeping it because i do still like it. Thumbs Up
